We Stayed 3 Nights And Did Not Have Maid Service Any Of The Days.We Had To Go Down To The Front Desk Each Day To Get Towels And Wash Rags And Trash Bags.We Had To Take Our Own Trash Out.Each Day We Went To The Front Desk,All They Would Say Is I'm Sorry. The Next Day It Was The Same Thing. We Stayed On The Second Floor And All Of The Second Floor STUNK REAL BAD,Even All THROUGH THE HALLWAYS.We WILL NEVER STAY THERE AGAIN.

There are some things for which the Castaways cannot be held responsible. For example, the terrible weather was not their fault. The intermittend outages in cable and Wi Fi were likely weather related. On the other hand, let's be clear: this is no resort. There are mixed reviews about it and I know that the rooms are individually owned so there is bound to be some variation in quality. However, the rude little girl at the desk who mutters, "Whatever..." when you say anything to her is probably rude to everyone. We were not the only guests to be given rooms on the first floor (completely eliminating any possibility of a view) where the doors didn't open. Rude Girl didn't actually believe us but sent someone else who also was unsuccessful in getting the door to open. She reluctantly gave us a room on the 6th floor, as if it was one of the few remaining rooms, which is a joke. The good news: the 6th floor hallway did not stink like mold, old beer, and gas. The other good news (maybe): the door opened. The room was large, with a king bed, a couch, a chair, and a table with two chairs. It had a kitchenette with a new fridge and microwave as well as a two-burner hot plate clearly left over from the 1960's (likely the last time the hotel was updated and, perhaps, cleaned.) The king bed would have been lovely if not for the presence of our 12 year old daughter. We briefly debated the issue, checked to see if the sofa was hiding a sleeper (nope), and decided that sleeping three-to-a-bed was a better option than encountering Her Rudeness again. The 12 year old glanced at the bathroom and announced she would not be showering there which, given the mold on the shower curtain, was probably a good choice. The one blanket in the closet was probably purchased along with the hot plate and was scratchy and nasty. The bed felt sandy. Because of a near-hurricane level storm, the pool was cold and closed early. We did not try the restaurant or the bar and have no regrets about that. The next morning we chose to pack up and run away from the Castaways despite the fact that we had pre-paid for two nights. Ponying up for another room was well worth it.

Stayed here for the weekend, when we pulled up, there was a sign on the front door stating that the hotel was condemned. And it should of been! The elevator barely worked. The first room they gave us was hideous, filthy, smelled so bad that I had them give us another room. The next room was so so, partially clean. There were pad locks on the cabinets, the tub had mold on it. There was a sign that said " 25.00 charge for unwashed dishes ". The hallways smelled horrible. Definetly would not recommend this hotel. Dont waste your money.

We were so excited to be staying right on the beach. It was pay one night, get second night for free, great deal I thought. The reviews had said old but clean. My only requirement. What I was not expecting was the sign from the health department on the front door as we drove up. It stated the building was unsafe to be in. Seems there had been vandalism the week before which set off the sprinkler system on the fourth floor. After reading on, floors 2 and 3 were the floors no one could be on. I was reluctant to stay, but did. You would think the personel would have been EXTRA helpful and couteous, knowing people might choose to go somewhere that wasn't dripping wet. Not the case. It seemed like you were bothering them if you dared asked them anything. I witnessed one particular young girl behind the counter being very rude to a customer. One ice machine for entire hotel in the lobby, which you must pay to access. One working elevator for the entire hotel (which sounded like it was on its last leg) made for long waits to get to your room. The room itself was pretty clean if you didn't count the badly, I mean badly stained carpet. We just kept our flip flops on. If hospitality is not important to you and you're not opposed to walking up seven flights of stairs(or wait for elevators) and old is good, then this is the place for you! The staff could have turned this lemon into lemonade had they been a little friendly and understanding of the reservations one might have upon arriving to such a disappointing welcoming sign!

We arrived too late at night our first night to make other arrangements unfortunately! When we arrived we had to wait for the front desk to finish talking amongst eachother & smoking cigarettes outside before we were checked in (about 5 mins). The lobby area was nothing better than ok, the rooms were filthy! We had to buy new blankets & cleaning supplies before we could even relax after a 22hr drive. The mattresses were stained the lampshades had mold on them along with the bathroom ceiling. We reserved two rooms, my mothers adjoining door wouldn't close, and she was handed a wrench & told to see what she could do!!! What Castaways fails to inform their customers of is that each room is individually owned ( I was told by one f the room owners). So if you have a problem there is nothing they can really do, because they don't own it. I am surprised that we didn't contract scabies from the place YUCK!!! Please check out my pictures before you decide to book there! It is cheap & you may get even more than what you pay for here!

Check in was nice and the lobby was very clean. Our room on the other hand was a filthy mess. I had to go to the store and buy cleaning supplies before we could even sit down. But after the cleaning was done....we had a great trip! The location was perfect and the room was only 30.00 a night for an ocean front, with free parking. If you dont want to clean....then this hotel is NOT for you. If you want to save money and clean a bit, then this hotel is perfect for you.

Dirty dirty room. Carpet old and nasty. Toilet worked part time. Microwave needed cleaned. All wood furniture needed wiping off. Shower was an uncontrolable mess, water everywhere. Cheap plastic curtain waving in the breeze. Furniture well worn. Doors hard to open and close. Teeny tiny bathroom. Kitchen cabinet held together with tape. Wall around air conditioner filthy, sand all over. Long brown hair and black gunk on the sheets. Elevators sluggish. Parking lot dark. Could only lock door when leaving from the outside. Room smelled. Cooktop all rusty. Dirty towel left hanging on the back of the bathroom door. Decent TV. Nice fridge. Nice lobby.
