UPDATE October 2011

The Ark has announced that CRABS are BACK.
They have changed their pricing to accommodate this.

For $21.99 the regular buffet (no crab)

Adding Crab to the Regular Buffet:
For $10.99 MORE ($32.98) you get 1 1/2 lbs of crab served to you.

For $18.00 MORE ($39.99) you get the ALL U CAN EAT CRAB. You have to ask your server to bring you more each time you want a refill. It is NOT on the buffet line.
As long as the servers are attentive and keep it coming this will work out just fine. If it takes too long in between refills, then we have a problem. Our servers at The Ark have always been VERY good so I'm assuming the great service will continue.

If you are a big crab eater like myself, this pricing seems fair. I have friends who don't care for seafood, so they pay less.

Thank you ARK for coming up with a compromise that should make everyone happy.

You can't beat a great first class buffet. The Ark is the best quality buffet you will find, day or night in the Ft. Lauderdale area. Not only is the salad bar chilled with one of a kind originals, but the soups are homemade and luscious. Try the garlic cheese rolls to dunk in the soup. They are located where the sauces and gravies are. The carved meats to order consist of a pork dish, turkey/or duck, prime rib, corned beef, etc. It changes daily, but always has 4 selections and this is just for lunch. The regular hot dishes include specialty items like fried eggplant, perfect meat sauce for their pasta of the day, broasted chickem, roasted potatoes, various veggies, pizza, etc. There is also a cold cut table with all kinds of deli meats. Add at night, all kinds of sea food-from crab legs to salmon. Leave room for dessert. A separate buffet set up includes hand dipped ice cream, real hot fudge, fresh and glazed fruits, Cuban pastries and flan, and freshly made whipped creamk, and all kinds of pies and cakes. The place is amazing.

Visited this location with business associates. We waited ,waited, and waited to be seated by an inattentive blonde hostess who seemed way to busy socializing with friends in a very uncrowded restaurant. When asked to be seated she became offended by it ..Lunch buffet $11.00.The only good thing is the salad bar,Whitch was fresh with variety. All down hill from there.veggies undrecooked.Poor variety seemed like it was sitting there for hours,or left over from previous night.Decor is old and musty, not to bright,(refer back to hostess).service slow and unatentive.

I am saddened to write this negative review for an old favorite of mine. I truly hope that the wonderful people who run this place (management and staff always very friendly) can save this sinking ARK. This place is old and run down, but this is easily overlooked when you are eating unlimited, delicious crab. Once crab is taken out of the buffet, all that is left is some sub-par food. A few good items, yes, but no longer worth the price. With rising costs, I can understand the difficult posotion they were in when they chose to remove crab from the buffet. To add insult to injury, yesterday's visit was marred by a salad bar with a fruit fly problem...we had to leave.
