We spent about 2 hours here as part of a post cruise trip and could have easily stayed twice as long. If you like quiet, lovely gardens and are interested in animals then this is a place for you. We started with a tram ride through the Gardens with a very informative driver who pointed out lots of different flora. We then walked around the animal exhibits, all (apart from the caged birds) had plenty of space and appeared well looked after. This is a 'Not For Profit' venue and I strongly suggest that anyone in the Fort Lauderdale area should give these Gardens a look. You will not be disappointed.

Thank you for writing such a great review on TripAdvisor. We are so glad that you enjoyed yourself and learned all about our mission. The birds of prey that are in the small cages are not able to fly, so we give them cages that are the size they need to be able to get to their food and hop on and off the perches. If they were flighted, we would provide a larger enclosure. We hope that you will visit again if you are in the area.

They have many champion trees and all sorts of botany but also have an impressive aviary where you walk in and feel like you're in the wild. Many other displays including panthers, bear and my favorite, otters. Original 1930s house on premises. They are unique in that they have many animals that are injured or that can no longer survive in the wild. They take care of sick animals, humans. Nice way to spend a few hours.

Contrary to many attractions in south Florida, parking is FREE. Admission is reasonable and the rest is really up to you! Lots of Flamingos, egrets , and many other species of Florida wildlife. This is not a commercial rip off...rather a pleasant walk about which is truly enjoyable. Take your time and enjoy...we did!

My husband and I visited here after a cruise but this place definitely caters to all ages from families with young children to retired couples. The gardens are beautiful and the sheer numbers and variety of birds and wildlife are impressive. the free flight aviary is an especially nice feature. The small extra charge for the tram ride was definitely worth it to see parts of the grounds that are not visible otherwise.

Went there on a Friday and the weather was fantastic for strolling. Bought a tram tour in order to see areas you might not able to see and reach by foot. Love the flora/fauna. Tall and big trees all around which was awesome. The bird aviary was great as you can walk around with variety of birds, pelicans, ibis and ducks. Peacocks are all over the ground and if you get lucky sometimes displaying and spreading their beautiful feathers. We were also able too watch the wildlife encounter which was both informative and educational. You can also visit and have a guided tour for the Wray home. You can also see panthers, bobcats, turtles, bear, alligators, vultures, owls and other variety of birds. There is a large area for the bright colored flamingos. It was great to watch them playing around. I also spotted a swan in the island of the ibis. This place is a great for relaxing with nature. Highly recommended and would return in the future.
