This is the 4th time staying at Regal Palms but the first and last with Paradise Properties.
All started well. The place looked fine, with the table laid and fancy towels on the bed, but it was not to last.
The freezer did not seem very cold, but there was ice and the controls were at maximum. We put our weeks groceries away and then upon checking the cabinets, found filthy dirty glasses. It was gross. We unloaded every cabinet, hand washed all dishes and then put them on high cycle in the dishwasher.
Even though there were 2 safes on the property, neither was available to us as one was locked and the other open but inoperable. Upon calling the owner, we were informed curtly that the safes were for the owners use???? The manual in the lobby says to keep all valuables in the safe provided???? We have never been to Regal Palms and not had the use of a safe. Where are you supposed to keep passports, airline tickets and valuables.
That was just the start. In the morning we found that a burner on the stove and neither the fridge or the freezer were working. All ice cream, Popsicles and some pizzas had to be discarded immediately. Of course, the owner was unavailable, so we had to leave a message.
Upon our return in the evening, there was no sign of anybody being there and again our calls went to an answering machine.
Out of desperation I emailed the reservation office and left our cell phone number.
Angela called us the next morning to assure us that the fridge had been repaired. After convincing her that it was not, it was finally agreed to get us a new fridge.
We finally got a workable fridge over 3 days and almost a weeks groceries later.
Still not done. The screen door was propped up against the door and their repair was to put it back on its tracks. It still didn't work, but it was on it's tracks.
Wednesday evening we had to rouse the kids and get them outside due to the unit being filled with acrid smoke. After opening all doors and windows and checking all lights, outlets and appliances, we finally got back in. The next morning we traced the problem to a burned out modem.
When the kids dropped something under the couch, we found a lifetime of dirt, filth and PEANUTS. Nice!
The coffee table was broken and had to be propped up every time it was used or moved.
Never once did we get Any HINT of an apology and when I contacted the owner on our return home, I was met with abuse and threats.
As I said RUN AWAY.....fast.
