Description: Elegant, hand crafted foods and boutique wines are the focus in this relaxed and intimate 40 seat dining room, just north of Tampa in charming Dade City. A winding bucolic drive through orange groves, hills and cattle ranches, this is an unexpected haven away from congested cookie cutter Florida. The Pearl in the Grove is a European bistro with Panhandle roots and definitely an experience worth the drive out of town. The experience is many things at once: ancestral Southern with hints of Creole, a dash of Western European simplicity, easy Sunday suppers served family style, luxurious, leisurely Brunch. Wine pairing dinners. Craft and local beers. Simple ingredients feel sophisticated but fun and effortless, like the New Orleans heritage jazz that plays in the background. The Pearl eschews trend and tricks in favor of a more refined nod to cooking that’s never pretentious, just honest. An unwavering commitment to local farm produce and regional ingredients like local cheeses, hand picked organic micro greens, kumquats from the grove on the corner and local beef and pork from heritage stock-- Proprietors Curtis and Rebecca Beebe know great food and their passion is evident. Informed by world travel as military kids, they both learned techniques from their mothers. Cook with what’s indigenous to the area in the regional style. Chef Curtis watched his mom forage and cook with local produce from Northern Africa, Germany and Japan. Rebecca’s sharp eye comes from a long line of low country Alabama fishermen, farmers and restaurateurs. This sparked a well balanced culinary marriage. When settling back into the towns that arc the Gulf of Mexico, they started to hone their unique regional style and wanted to bring it to Central Florida. Louisiana to Apalachicola. Rural, not country. Leisurely, not casual. Accomplished, reserved service. Genuine hospitality. Careful cooking with lots of panache. Served in a warm and intimate dining room. Just right.

We have found this to be a great place to meet with family as it is 1/2 way between us in Tampa and the others in Ocala. The food is great as is the service. The use of local vegetables & meats makes for an exceptional meal.

The restaurant is in an old house in the middle of a grove. You'll need a GPS to find it but it is worth the trip.

From the completely local selections, daily fresh entrees, impeccable service team, friendly and personable owners, this truly is a "pearl." Not much to see from the outside (it was dark) and out in the country, one may be a little concerned with the rustic interior as well. But once you are wooed by the charm and ambiance on the environment, you realize it is all part of the experience. The food is not your "normal" fare. Everything is special and you could certainly return again and again and never find the same things twice. The food is outstanding, everyone ended sharing with each other trying to determine who had the best dish (I won with the pork belly), and the wine was very moderately priced with an outstanding selection. When ever I am near TAmpa / St. Pete or Dade city, I'm stopping at the Pearl.

We thought it was worth a try on a drive through the area, and left thinking dinner at the Pearl is alone worth a trip from St Pete. Wonderful unpretentious atmosphere, mouth-watering locavore dishes (the only place we've encountered that offers a choice between grass- and grain-fed steak), a model we truly wish others in the T Bay area would pick up on. Maybe we'll make a weekend visit to the area next time, and dine here twice. If more diners will support this model, which in turn supports the small farmer, maybe we'll see more places like this near Florida's big cities.

Pearl In The Grove is a true gem! Located in picturesque St. Joe, just a stone's throw from Dade City, it is well worth the scenic drive.

We decided to try brunch and were thoroughly delighted. The intriguing cornmeal and molasses waffle with swamp honey and fruit cup was absolutely delicous. The creole omelet (pictured)contained a generous serving of perfectly cooked shrimp and the side of homemade bread with swamp honey was also divine. As a bonus, the coffee was the right strength, the right temperature, and plentiful.

As indicated on the menu, all the dining options are fresh and locally sourced. Everything is prepared by Curtis, the owner. He is a most capable chef, which is evident in every dish he prepares. Tom, our server, knows the menu inside and out, and is a really pleasant and professional man.

A party of 8 went for St. Pat's Day and the meal was wonderful. All local produce and local beef. We were seated quickly and a salad was brought to the table and when that was gone they brought another plate of salad. The saurkraut was delish and the whole meal was delightful. This was a second trip and I wonder why we waited so long to go back...A real treat as Holidays can be a big headache to eat out.
