In our month in the Keys we ate at Square Grouper six times. Every visit was fantastic. We always ordered the fish special of the day. The fish was fresh, well-prepared and she uses a variety of subtle and unique sauces that don't overpower the fish. And the house side salad is a zesty bowl of goodness. The conch soup is delicious, and one day we tried the zucchini fries - yummy. We enjoyed an awesome tiramisu there, and the bread puddings are scrumptious as well.

The staff is friendly and occasionally a little too relaxed. (But hey, you're in the Keys!)

The only bad thing about this restaurant? They're closed on Sundays. Kaya Island Eats has the views, but does not compare to the food quality and taste at Square Grouper.

We dined with 9 people and enjoyed small plates like scallops and lobster tempura. The house salad was even original with mixed greens, blue cheese, and vinaigrette. Scallops were enormous and had a nice smokey flavor. Fried calamari was good. Poutin and other land fare is available Falling In Reverse folks who don't like seafood.

who says the only fine dining is in key west. this restaurant was our favorite during our stay in key west. the service was outstanding, the staff very welcoming and then there was the food---ah yes the food, thats what we were really there for-----great list of appetizers, the seafood soup we had was the best soup I have ever tasted, spicy cream sauce loaded with lots of great seafood.only dissappointment was the key lime pie, JJ gandys in clearwater area puts it to shame. overall, a great dining experiience------- we'll be back

While we were staying in Key West, we used Trip Advisor reviews to pick the restaurants for us to eat. We read the great reviews on Square Grouper and drove from Key West to eat there. It was so worth the drive. We had the egg rolls, hamburgers, Philly chicken and grouper sliders and all were delicious. Both of my college age sons had the hamburger with apple wood bacon and said it was in the top 3 hamburgers they had ever eaten!

We asked a local in Key West where we should have lunch while traveling up to the 7 mile bridge on the Harley we rented. He did not even hesitate. Square Grouper! MM 22!! Man oh man was that the best advice! Loved everything about the restaurant- the atmosphere, staff, menu, wine, FOOD! We enjoyed a wonderful Conch Finger appetizer between us and then I had Blackened Snapper Salad with gorgonzola cheese, cashews and balsamic vinaigrette while my bday boy husband enjoyed a special of the day: Lobster (Maine!) stuffed in a portabella mushroom with a garlic sauce....to die for!!! Topped it all off with a Key Lime Pie (the best he has ever had) topped off with a candle. A must try spot. But do not go between 2:30 and 5....they are closed! (And we loved the reason for the name! Had no idea! LOL
