“Dolberry reality unit 559”

We went down to spend Christmas in cudjoe key in 2012, we live in north Florida . My husband had called the reality company to see if we could bring our gas powered golf cart. They told my husband that we could so we got a trailer loaded the cart and away we went when we got there we were told not to even take it off the trailer. We had to park it in the over flow parking along with our other truck.. You can only have one car parked at the house after 11:00, we had our adult kids and grand baby so we had to walk or drive a quarter of a mile to get to the over flow parking to get the other truck so we could go anywhere. I sent an email to the reality company and she sent me a response saying my husband was not telling the truth about this, and that she did tell him that. Trust me we would not have spent an extra 200. 00 to 300.00 dollars to bring it down if we where not going to be able to use it. The house was ok the beds were not very comfortable . Over all the house was ok. We will not stay there again, mainly because of the realiy company being so misleading. Make sure you check out all the rules if I where you I would call the venture out people to find out the real rule that they have.

This development has a large number of very small lots with individual dwellings, many on the water. Most of the houses fill to a foot of the lot line with no yard. Some of the houses are pre-built. Some slots seem to be RV lots. Your experience will depend a lot on the unit you get. Ours was clean but cheaply furnished and outfitted. The TV channels were the absolute minimum available without such standards as ESPN so forget watching football except on the 3 major networks. You can watch the Barbie Channel instead. It did have good wireless. The place was small (though as large as most) and although it had beds for 6 and two baths, even four adults would be cozy. When neighbors rev their boat up at 5:30 AM for a fishing trip you'll be awake. There are amenities such as pool tennis courts and many fun things to do nearby: beaches, snorkeling, kayaking. I would not consider this a resort. An inexpensive place to sleep and shower while you enjoy the region perhaps. There are many nice rental homes available on this and nearby Keys which are larger and more attractive. If you have more than 2 people in the group I'd go with one of them.

Room Tip: Go to a different resort.

I think it is very unfair that venture out resort is getting bad reviews...It is truly based on the rental unit you have and if you dont do some research you could end up with a bad experience. I have stayed at venture out in a beautiful rental on the water. I love the amenities that are offered, i feel that some people that are writing these reviews have high expectations for a "resort" type of vacation, there is plenty to do or you can just relax and enjoy what venture out has to offer. An added bonus is that is very close to Key West and other great spots for some sun and fun!

Room Tip: Do the research for a unit that will accomodate you.

I never write reviews, so either I had a very good experience or a very bad. Unfortunately, this is a bad one.
This resort has excellent amenities: waterfront, pool, hot tub, basketball courts, tennis courts, etc etc. The unit we stayed in was nice, comfortable. The $1000 warning letter we received for a barking dog, not so nice.

if you are a dog owner, beware. We brought our 7 year old poodle mix with us. She's an absolutely great dog, and we travel with her often. Not all the time, but often enough. We have never had any issues. We've stayed in hotels, motels, condos, etc. with her.

This resort is EXTREMELY strict with dog owners. I already knew about the rules for dog walking. Basically don't walk your dog around the complex at all, only outside the resort.

We left our dog alone in the unit and came back to 2 complaint letters from security saying our dog barked while we are out. She's a dog. She's gonna bark. She doesn't bark continuously, but if something frightens her, she will bark. She's not a loud barker. And she does stop when the threat goes away. We've NEVER had an issue when we travel with her elsewhere. She's not perfect by any means, but she is a good dog.

So, then after getting 2 complaints, the owners to the right of us made an appearance and it didn't take us long to realize where the complaints came from. We were extremely apologetic, said our peace, and thought that was the end of it. Then an hour later came the blaring Jimi Hendrix concert from their unit. I thought, are you kidding me? This went on for 7 hours, until 2 AM. One dog bark initiates a threatening complaint letter warning of a $1000 fine and 7 hours of non-stop hard-rock music initiates nothing.

so lesson learned: this resort is not pet friendly and unit owners do not take kindly to renters at all. I don't think our dog was the issue. I think the issue was that we were next door to owners who didn't take kindly to renters.

The shame of it is we didn't need to bring our dog. If the homeowner or property manager had warned us ahead of time, we would have left her at home. No biggie. This resort and the property management company and the homeowner should stop advertising as pet friendly. A $1000 fine for a barking dog is unnecessary. A kind caution/warning would have done the trick just as well. If homeowners don't want the resort opened up to renters, then this should be considered as well. There's no need to make homeowners and vacation renters miserable.

I would not consider this place resort worthy. The pamphlet and online pictures is simply a picture of the best looking building in the community. Most of the residences are double wides, singles or RV spots for parking. The cleanliness ranked a 5 because we were able to clean up after ourselves. I drove from Clearwater Florida to spend time with family who flew down from NY. I was told at the security gate only one car was able to park at each residence even though the carport could fit two cars comfortably. I would need to park at the overflow parking lot and walk my luggage to the residence 1/4 mile or more away. The beach access is nonexistent. Ladders are provided for climbing into your boat or scuba diving, but hopefully some unknowing person does not use these ladders to just get in the water (some lady told me you can climb in using the ladder, let go and your body will sink to the bottom and bounce back up to the top like a buoy). Glad I didn't listen. My family is what made the trip bearable. Make sure you check places out in person before you commit to long trips out of town.

We just had a Family Vacation here and will consider a different place for our next time at The Florida Keys Vacation. The place is very nice. The amenities are very good but the RULES, RULES, RULES just killed it! Nothing to do in the Pool but just go in the water!!! No music not even very low!!! No inflatable rafts!!! No underwater masks or snorkels!!! NO DRINKS AT ALL!!!!!!! You have to go outside the Pool area if you want to eat or drink something!!! We were fishing at the Pierre and they came to shut us down. MInd you we where just talking, maybe a bit louder at times with the fishing excitement!!! Bottom line you pay all this money to leave home to relax and enjoy yourself to find that you are being harassed about everything to the point they make you feel very uncomfortable!!!!! Therefore, either they change the rules or they will find less repeatedly business!!! You have been warned!!!!

If we'd gotten a decent nights sleep during our 1 week stay and a lot less bug bites...it would have been a better vacation. The ultra-thin typical low-end manufactured home mattresses were absolutely dreadful to sleep on...requiring constant turning all through the night...as shoulders, hips and spines ached. The bugs were ravenous, undeterred by repellants; among the six of us - we accumulated over 100 bites, mostly on legs, ankles, feet and arms. We were getting bit so badly, we thought the place might have bed-bugs...it didn't, it was fleas and mosquitoes outside and getting in when we opened the door.
Venture Out, is a gated RV, travel-trailer, park home facility located oceanside. Properties range from rustic semi-run-down to attractive well maintained double-wides elevated on columns with exceptional views and car parking underneath. The facilities pools, courts, club-house, tiki-bar are "nice"...functional but not really impressive - the 8 foot high chain link fence around the pool gives the area a sort of bleak ambience. We played table tennis in the hot open door clubhouse using the best paddles they had, which were locked up and required a security deposit to use. These paddles were virtually unusable with about 1/2 of the rubber ripped off all surfaces, if these were mine they'd be in the trash bin (along with all the others they had).
There really isn't a walk-in swimming area into the ocean at Venture Out, it appeared one could enter water down a ladder into the inlet boating cove but we saw no one doing this.
The elevated double-wide unit we stayed in was a little cramped for 6 people (adults), the unit was way overstocked with glassware and dishes, leaving little room to store the weeks worth of groceries we brought. Two of our group left on the 5th day and the place was much more comfortable with just 4 people. The AC in the unit worked great, keeping the place comfortable on some real hot sticky days. The refridgerator was quirky requiring a lot of adjusting, 1st freezing eggs, then not keeping the milk cold. The unit included 3 bicycles (we didn't use) a gas grill (worked fine), 4 swell beach chairs, hammock (damaged), 2nd floor deck (entry to unit thru slider), lower (under unit) seating area and storage room. A stock of many Disney movies, a good size plasma TV, a stereo system in unit. The living room chairs were just OK, not most comfortable. Dining room area adjacent to kitchen with seating for 6 was comfortable and worked out well for us.
The unit backed up to Spanish Main Rd. which provided ample traffic noise starting every morning around 6:30.
All employees we encountered during our stay (mostly at the entry gate) we friendly and courteous.

Room Tip: Talk to owners of unit you're considering renting for specific requests and concerns.
