As others have posted, the rooms are dated. If you are expecting the Taj Mahal with Motel 6 pricing, forget it! However, things are not as dire as some say. Yes, pretty much everything in the room is at least 20 years old, except the television but it's not shabby. We found our room very comfortable and clean, the bed was firmer than our home bed but it was fine for a good night's sleep. Got plenty of tv stations very clearly. The bathroom is very dated but it serves its purpose, including having a blow dryer for your use. Staff here is friendly and helpful. There are picnic tables right by the river's edge on their boardwalk but you are not allowed to eat there. I am supposing it's because of 1. birds that will come and steal food right out of your hand and/or 2.the risk of food items and trash blowing right into the crystal clear waters. We did not use the swimming pool but we did look at it. Someone had said it was dirty but we didn't find that to be true at all! It is a plain rectangular pool that looked cool and refreshing AND has a handicap lift!! We rented a jonboat from the marina for a couple of hours (too expensive for a pontoon for our budget) and enjoyed tooling around looking at the scenery, the expensive, nice-looking homes and other boats/boaters. Almost everyone out on the water will say "hi" or at least wave to you! At bedtime, we were a bit concerned as there were some kids running up and down the stairs and across the upper landing and we could hear that in our room. No worries-by 10 it was very quiet and peaceful. My biggest disappointment was that some people were fishing and cleaned their fish at the picnic tables, managing to take over three of them. They were still seemingly nice folks. Didn't go to the Ale House. The marina people are super-helpful! Believe me when I tell you, these knees don't bend well to sit in a tiny boat but they helped every way they could to get my husband and I comfortable! Would I visit here again? In a heartbeat but next time I will budget better so we can rent that pontoon!

Room Tip: We stayed on the first floor because we can't climb many stairs and our view was very good. I t...

The location is excellent with quick access to Crystal River. The adjacent restaurant has good food and decent service. The hotel itself hasn't had much maintenance in the 10 years we have been coming. The room appeared clean but smelled. The bed spread reminded me of something that Goodwill wouldn't accept as a donation. We always bring our own sheets, pillows, and bed spread. The worse part is the Hotel decided to change the weekend price due to a change in the scallop season. So they wouldn't honor the guaranteed rate. I have filed a complaint with Bookings.com. The rooms have a small refrigerator and microwave, but no kitchen. AC is provided by old window shakers. Parking is good and well lit. It is a shame that the owners are letting this place go down.

Room Tip: Most of the rooms are not handicap accessible. First floor rooms seem best. The complex is 2 level...

Fantastic location, wonderful staff, but the hotel is falling apart. Stairs to upper level is dangerous! Bar and food unavailable after 7pm - very odd. Wi-fi also poor. Rebuild / renovate and I will be happy to go back.

The location was great. The restaurant on the property was nice. The Hotel itself was outdated, but very inexpensive. The room was clean and comfortable, and had great views of the water. There was no light in the room other than the bedside lamp, making eating or reading difficult.

The port hotel was rather old and outdated. It was however very inexpensive (off season) . The restaurant (ale house) was pretty good food too. The marina was decent. The bed was terrible, mattress was some of the worst I can recall in recent memory. The room dead bolt was broken/missing. To be honest, if I return to the area I will probably spend a little more $$ and stay somewhere else.

My wife and I decided to stay here for a weekend getaway and we were not disappointed. Even though the hotel is an old one it was a GREAT stay. The room was very clean, the view was amazing, and the location was perfect for all we had planned.
