A homey, quaint place right on the main street. We opted to sit outside and it was a wonderful January day with warm sun and a light breeze - a Perfect setting. The Highlander has outstanding service and a variety of sandwiches and soups. I was disappointed that the roast beef was just deli roast beef, but the bread was excellent and the sandwich was flavorful. A bit eclectic, the sandwiches are all a bit interesting. We were too full to enjoy desert but the deserts all look wonderful and this place is immaculate. A great find in Crystal River.

We each had a bowl of soup and a small sandwich and iced tea for $30 plus tip. Everything tasted great, but these are light lunch size portions. We will definitely go back, but if you are feeding teenagers or some hungry men, then this is not the place to go. It is sort of the antithesis of Cody's Roadhouse.

We stopped at The Highlander Cafe on a Wednesday afternoon for lunch as we drove from Tarpon Springs to Cedar Key. There were live musicians on the front porch when we arrived. The food was very tasty from the soups, salads, and sandwiches. The staff were very efficient. Well worth the stop.
