“Nice park, nice kayak launch, but...”
Reviewed March 8, 2012

Stay out of the water! Nasty brown algae like growth everywhere floating on the water and all through it! Heard that if you go in the water, tiny bugs get in your ears and leave you with a nasty ear infection or worse! Need to clean up this waterway, big time!

“easy launch for kayaks”
Reviewed February 24, 2012

There is lots of free parking and a small beach area for swimming or launching kayaks. Manatee regularly swim up and down the channel.

“Fantastic park - where the locals go - family friendly”
Reviewed August 19, 2011

Thanks to a previous poster we found this wonderful little gem of a park and had a blast at this park. If you're traveling north on 19 into town, cross Hwy 44 and turn left on Citrus. Follow Citrus and look for the signs directing you to the park. If, for some reason, you miss them, simply follow Citrus until it dead ends, turn left, then right at the next stop sign. That's the entrance to the park.

There are large steps that lead into the water, it's safe to swim there and we had several locals tell us the manatees come through there frequently.

We went there early in the morning and had the place to ourselves. We returned later in the day and there were families there enjoying the park. Lots of swimmers, some snorkelers and just people having a good time. (Alcohol is not allowed so there were no stupid drunks spoiling the place.)

“Small City Park with Fresh Water Swimming access”
Reviewed September 29, 2009

The little place packs a whole lot of punch for someone restricted on time that wants to get their feet wet in Crystal River. Just a couple blocks of of US 19 I kind of have to get lost to get there most of the time, normally finding it by hitting Citrus Avenue, and meandering my way through the bayside half small downtown half residental section of Crystal River. There's a couple of signs ample parking, and if you bring a book and a beach chair the view isn't fantastic but the feel of being on the water near the water and dipping your toes in the water is.
