“An Enjoyable Time”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 3, 2013

This is an enjoyable couples walk. You have to use some imagination of what it was like back then to survive and live. May not be the best place for people who need to be entertained. It is a beautiful park. Bring your camera, bug spray, water and your imagination. You have got to walk up the steps to the top and just enjoy the view. Forgot my camera this trip so we will have to go back again on a nice cool day. A nice day trip and then we have dinner, usually take out and go back home to Cedar Key noshing on Japanese appetizers.

“Crystal River Archaeological Site”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 14, 2013

Super interesting for the nerdy types and anyone looking to do something outdoors. Beautiful setting for a quiet walk.

We visited in August and the biting flies and aggressive mosquitoes were out so be sure to take bug spray!

“Great historical site...deserves more attention.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 21, 2013

We have so few surviving Native American sites of this nature. An obvious similarity to Mexican ritual sites only a much smaller scale. I wish they had the finances to truly display this site as it deserves. Still...make the trip and imagine what this site once was and still could be with proper funding.

“Beautiful park, but not much to do”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 7, 2013

We decide to go to this park because of all the Native American history. It was completely dead when we arrived. It had been raining all day, but the sun was up. We walked the very short distance, and read the signs, but found it all very boring. The view is incredible if you are up to climbing 49 steps to the top. There is no ramp or elevator to the top of this mound. Other than that, if you skipped it, all you would miss out on is the history. It cost $3 per car, and it is by the honesty policy. You slide the money in an envelope, put it into a locked box and hang the tag into the window. Was it worth the $3? I say yes if it helps the park. Hubby says no because there was no guided tour. It was just a self tour. So if you like to read about history and enjoy nature, this is a great park. If you become bored easily and want a tour, skip it.

“Disappointed”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 30, 2013

Museum closed day we were there. Boat trip not running either. Site is broad but not the interest I was expecting. Some of the descriptive speakers were not operating and others were so garbled I couldn't understand what was being said. Go on a day the museum is open as there may be additional information that was not available to us.
