“Classical Elegance in Coral Gables”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 5, 2013

Spent two nights in February. Historical building in Coral Gables with beautiful architecture and an enormous swimming pool. 18 hold golf course on site was nice to play. Service was excellent. Everyone very helpful.

Room was nicely appointed. Two flat screen tvs in the room. Strong and fast wifi connection (included).

You have to appreciate the historical nature of this property to truly enjoy your stay.

Thank you for your kind remarks. The Biltmore is a designated National Historic Landmark property known for its rustic Mediterranean charm, which is usually warmly embraced by our guests. We’re delighted your stay with us was enjoyable.

The staff was nice, the pool relaxing, the bar food outside terrific. However, the restaurant inside was ruth chris prices for outback quality. The parking situation was very good. This hotel needs to work on the menu.

We welcome constructive feedback from all of our guests as an integral part of monitoring services and product throughout the resort. It’s our desire to ensure every guest experience is both exceptional and memorable. We were surprised to see the comments regarding cuisine quality, as our restaurants, both Palme d'Or and Fontana, have received top Zagat ratings in South Florida for six years running. If there is any other aspect of the hotel that you would like to discuss, please contact us directly so that we may address with you more thoroughly.

Stayed for about a week during winter 2011. It is a beautiful place located in a quiet posh housing neighborhood which is a short drive away from the central location. There are no shops or restaurants within walking distance. However the hotel offers quite a nunmber of distinctive award-winning fine-dinning options. The room is spacious, warm and nicely decorated. It seemed this hotel is a popular place for wedding reception, so be sure to make an early reservation at the restaurants.

Stayed here last night compliments of RSSC prior to our Caribbean cruise.
Beautiful suite in one of the towers. Really comfy bed, lovely toiletries and lots of fluffy towels. Good hair dryer found under the vanitary unit.
Shame no tea / coffee making facilities!
Excellent buffet breakfast.
Would I stay here again? If wanted luxury and a treat ... Yes.

I'll start by saying the hotel is charming, the rooms are nicely appointed and serviced well, the pool and property is gorgeous, and any staff members not working behind a desk or at a restaurant were wonderful and helpful. But that is where the good part of the review ends.

We visited the hotel during a busy weekend in Miami - which we didn't realize when we booked the trip. The International Boat Show and Coconut Grove Art Festival were going on, so traffic was crazy all weekend, and the hotel was buzzing with lots of guests for those events and at least 3 weddings as well. You would think that with all that going on, the hotel would have staffed up a bit more, or been prepared in some way, but what we consistently found was that help was not easily found, and when it was found, it wasn't always friendly.

We had difficulty getting cabs all weekend - we found ourselves wishing we'd stayed in Miami Beach or at least closer to the center of Coral Gables. We called from our room on Saturday night requesting that the concierge call us a cab ahead of time because we'd had a lot of trouble the night before as well. The concierge answered that it was very busy and they were calling but that we would need to just come down and deal with it ourselves.

We had breakfast one morning at the restaurant at the pool, and it took almost an hour to be served our meal. When it did arrive it was the wrong thing, and when we questioned it, instead of taking it away and fixing it, he argued with us, saying that he swore that we ordered what he was serving us.

When it came time to check out on Monday morning, only one person was working the front desk and she was occupied with another guest. We needed to settle up and had a flight to catch, and despite asking several other staff people if there was anyone else who could help us, we waiting almost 10 minutes to be helped.

It just seems to me that since this is a Leading Hotel of the World and we paid $500 per night for the room, we should be able to expect better service. I understand that it was a busy weekend, but it just seemed like the hotel was completely unprepared for the number of people they would be serving. Or maybe their attentions were otherwise occupied. Either way, it made for a less than pleasant stay. We would not come back.

We are very appreciative of this feedback and regret that our service failed to meet your expectations. The Biltmore prides itself on an outstanding service culture worthy of its luxury status. We have dealt with the particular personnel involved and are confident that the issues have been effectively resolved. We thank you for the time you took to share your concerns, and it is our hope that you will give us the opportunity to better serve you in the future.

The hotel was just a beautiful experience from the decor to the service. The location is perfect and our time there was just too short! This will be our destination from now on when traveling to south Florida.

We stayed at the Biltmore for a Valentine's weekend getaway and it was wonderful. The staff was friendly and at your service. The 19th Hole Bar and Restaurant staff were amazing. At breakfast and at happy hour we felt like we were hosted by friends. The room had a great view of the pool and grounds. The halls were lined with historical photos throughout the building. It is truly an amazing place, in an amazingly quiet neighborhood. We usually "vacation" in the Grove, but love the peace and quiet in the Gables. There is too much to see in one weekend so we will be back.
