“View awesome, food ok, service a bit too casual”
Reviewed January 18, 2013

I live in Cocoa Beach and must say that the view from Capt J's upper deck is fabulous and the layout of the upper deck capitalizes on the view. I've only had the grilled shrimp, which was a bit salty. The salad and fries were much better. The staff were a bit casual w their guests, but probably a beach-thing. I had a very pleasant time and would patronize again w friends.

“Pass on this one”
Reviewed January 11, 2013

With all of the seafood this area has to offer there is no excuse for poor quality grouper. It was featured as "catch of the day" but it must have been caught several days ago. We have had a lot of grilled grouper and this was not fresh. The bread was great, the cole slaw good and the potatoes were fine but the grouper was "fishy". The place was musty smelling and the bathrooms were old and really pretty awful, come on no soap or soap dispenser in the men's room?

“under the stars”
Reviewed January 10, 2013

we found this by accident, sat outside under the stars and watched the world go by, nice drinks... staff seemed a bit stressed though. We watched a shooting star and the moon was glowing red.... good prices and very laid back...

“Not a good experience...”
Reviewed January 9, 2013

We arrived in the evening for dinner and the place was empty. It was new years day so I thought despite it being at 7:00pm there would be diners. A few were on the deck but it was chilly. I really felt like it was a calamity of errors and felt badly for the server after one repeated ill attempt after another. Drinks finally came to start off then we ordered dinner. We ordered salads which came with a warm loaf of bread. First came the entree...then we had to ask what happened to the salad and then lastly, the bread arrived...all in reverse order. My son's meal was the very last and we were almost finished eating before his arrived. Drinks took forever, my husbands fish dinner was rubber...the fish and chips were soggy and the pork was fatty. My Fettuccine Alfredo with blackened chicken I will say was delicious. I noticed during the day the deck was packed. The venue itself is an ideal location! They will not make it though, if they don't get a better chef, new managers and well trained servers. I would NOT recommend this place.

“Great!”
Reviewed January 5, 2013

We really enjoyed our meal at Captain J's. It is right on the beach. A little too windy to sit outside upstairs so we sat on the deck downstairs. Food was excellent, waitress very accommodating and friendly.
