“Great trip!”
Reviewed October 7, 2012

My husband and I just got back from a great trip to your place. We were there for our 3rd wedding anniversary. Went out on our 1st guided fishing trip and I smoked him. We caught about 50 fish but my 9 pounder was the catch of the day. We rented one of your pontoons on the 2nd day and caught more fish. Thanks to the pointers from our guide Steve and the nice young man at your tackle shop. The food at the galley was great also. I want the recipe for the ultimate fish. All in all the trip was awesome, from rooms to staff to the total package you have to offer. We will be back.

We were meeting our cousins in the middle, between Fort Myers and Florida's east coast, so when we looked at the map Clewiston became our destination. We went to the Tiki Bar for a cool drink and loved it. Very nice outdoor setting, with fans/misters, which were appreciated on a hot day. They had a duo playing live music and they were really good. Now for the drinks, you MUST get the Fish Bowl drink, which, true to its name is served ni a fish bowl and you get to keep it as a souvenir (cost about $20). The menu says it's a "secret" recipe. It was pretty much a rum punch I believe, and was a fun drink. Beware though, this drink serves at least three or four people, it's HUGE, so make sure you have a friend or two to share with. We spent some time there visiting and had a great time. .. .

My husband and I wanted to check out the lake and decided to eat lunch here. We walked into the restaurant and was completely ignored by numerous staff members. We stood at a counter that said "order here" for 15 min. without so much as eye contact from anyone. All the while the cooks directly behind the counter cursed and complained about orders coming in. We finally found an employee from the gift shop and explained we wanted to order something. She took us to the tiki bar and aplogized for our wait. The staff there was equally incompetant. Everyone was running around with big trays of food and loudly trying to figure out which table it went to. It took 45 minutes for our food to come. My husbands fish was very well done and greasy. It took just forever to get the bill. I heard one waiter say to someone, "if you dont like it here just leave!". Also, in gift shop two employees argrued loudly about an earlier transaction and the amount of cash in drawer. Best advice- stay on the water and fish!!

We stayed for 2 days. We rented a boat to fish on our own but next time I would have a guide. If you don't know the lake knowing where to fish can be hard. The staff was definitely not interested in customer satisfaction. The young lady on the counter was less than friendly and no one asked if we enjoyed our stay at check out. The room was dated but fairly clean (some mold stains on tub culking). There was some kind of tournament going on while we were there so early morning was noisy (5-6 am) when they all left for the lake. I would like to try fishing the lake again but I will do it from somewhere else.

If you don't have a fully self-contained Motor Home, don't consider this place!
We have stayed here before, but not at the Camp Ground...it Sucks!
No paper towels in the bath room, no screens and no services what so ever!
No one cared or even attempted to help or ask how things were.
Just the local plumber was a "good guy"...Thanks!
Stay at the KOA down the road...much nicer!

Room Tip: If camping, stay at the KOA just north on Rte 27

I recommend using Roland Martin's to handle your fishing needs and arrange for your guide but you don't need to stay there, unless you want to be insulted and talked down to. I checked in at about 2:45 pm and found that the rooms were not ready. This can happen and I asked the girl at the check in counter in the Marina to contact housekeeping and let them know I was ready to get into the room and find out how long it would be. She said she would not as she had called them too many times already and proceeded to tell me that, "You just gotta' understand." I have not been talked to like this since I was a PFC. There were two girls working the front desk and neither had what you would call an "up with people" approach to their jobs. In fact it seemed they enjoyed being downright nasty. While waiting in my truck near the room the head of housekeeping came by and asked if I was waiting to get into a room. I explained that I was in room XXX and she could not have been more apologetic and said nobody had called her to let her know I was waiting - she got somebody to finish preparing the room and I was in by 3:45 pm. I may fish there again but I will stay at one of the other hotels in the area as I don't need to pay to be insulted.
