Clewiston is a blue collar sugar mill town that has few decent restaurants. The Florida Cafe appears to be in a rehabed gas station on the east side of town on the main drag. I was delightfully surprised at the tasteful decor after almost not being able to find the restaurant due to inadequate signage. Inside is clean, quiet and well lighted, with Caribbean music and yep, a Cuban waiter!
The menu covered the usual fare of pork, beef, chicken and seafood a la Havana. My friend and I had roast pork, and grouper. The food was tasteful, prepared well, and presented well. The grouper turned out to be flounder, but it was quite good. Based on my experiences at other Clewiston restaurants, this one is well worth a visit. Re
