“Super fun and interesting”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 1, 2014

The air boat ride is thrilling, and the nature is beautiful. We saw enough wildlife to be content-- but that's not all there is to do there. Plenty of other stuff, all so interesting. If you like Native American jewelry, the gift shop on the way over is a treasure. We actually haven't been in a while, but have been a few times, and love the place. It's a trek to get there, but completely worth it.

“Billie Swamp Safari Rocks!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 30, 2013

Last year we tried the airboats as Sawgrass and everyone in our group agreed that our experience at Billie Swamp Safari was way more enjoyable. The park is just under 3,000 acres in the middle of a 60,000 acre Indian reservation. We loved the combination of the swamp buggies and the airboats. We covered many different types of land/water scapes and we saw tons of wildlife. Even saw a group of horses with a colt that was just a few hours old! All of the guides were knowledgeable and entertaining and without a tip jar! Part of the interest in this place is learning about the Seminole Indian culture and history. There were a couple of Native Americans cooking fry bread on an open fire, giving out samples and chatting about tribal life both ancient and modern. It was not another tourist show rather it was an opportunity to have a one on one conversation with people who grew up on the reservation. Loved the short nature trail boardwalk. Also, the Swamp Critter Show was well-presented interactive and engaging.

The Swampwater Café was a pleasant surprise. Did not go in expecting much but I ordered a grilled chicken breast plate that included green beans and a baked potato, delicious. My wife ordered the Indian Taco which was HUGE and included pieces of frybread inside. Beware that unless you ask for the small drink, they will default to a very large size. Café prices are no bargain at about $10 each for your entre ($36 for the three of us). Of course, there is no tax on the reservation but if you feel lucky, there is a small casino adjoining the cafe.

Our group left the day feeling very satisfied with our trip to Billie Swamp Safari. Be sure to look on their website for coupons. It saved us $5 per person.

“Not the Whitney, but historical”

If you are interested in the Everglades this is a must do stop. Do not expect 5 star ratings on the food and the site. Very proud history, people are nice and the reservation team and process is quite excellent. Minimum wildlife, but there are Gators, some birds. Be prepared for school trips. Seminole Museum was modest, but well done; thoughtful, attractive and helpful historical account.

“Fun day to spend in the wild everglades”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 30, 2013 via mobile

Went on the airboat ride. It was fun and exciting. The driver goes very fast hen stops and talks about the environment. Points out some alligators then drives the boat very fast and makes some zigzag maneuvers for some adrenaline rush.

Next we went on he swamp buggy. This was a large vehicle with wheels that were about ten feet tall to drive through the swampy water a d mud in he everglades. Kind of the same tour as the airboat but a different vehicle.

Really a good time. Very far drive from downtown Fort Lauderdale. Maybe an hour or more to get there. You will drive down a road that is literally in the middle of nowhere and you will think you are lost until you see some signs that say Billie swamp safari. Too far for a taxi, take a rental car.

“Disappointin”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 27, 2013

Went to get a taste and feel of the everglades, specifically by being in among them on the airboat ride. For about half of the ride the boat was stationary with the driver talking about various problems occuring in different parts of the country, virtually nothing about where we were. No commentary on the little wildlife we saw, no attempt to point out anything interesting. Total time on the boat, including standing still, less than 30 minutes. Expensive and a waste of money.

Not a great deal more to do and see.
