Was staying right around the corner from here. Stopped three times during our weeklong stay. We should have only stopped twice. The first stop was early on a Saturday. Not many people in the place but Michael the bartender was very nice and helpful. The food was OK but everyone who ordered burgers asked for medium and everyone got well done burgers. The second time was during the week and again the food was OK but the bar and beverages were very good. The last time was a Friday night before we left. The place was crowded and they did not have nearly enough help. Michael advised this was a normal Friday night crowd. It took over 1 1/2 hours to get our food. Everyone was complaining about the length of time it took to get their food. Then we noticed people who came in well after us getting their dinners first. No particular reason for this and when asked about it we were just told our food would be out shortly. Nachos were cold and not very good. Burger was well done again. Veggies were not cooked enough and Sheperd's Pie was cold and so so. Only the fried fish seemed to be decent. If you want a nice atmosphere for drinks and to relax, this is the place. If you are looking for a great meal then skip it. If you are in any kind of hurry forget about dinner on a busy Friday night.

After visiting 2 year ago and having a terrible Sunday dinner we decided to try again. Surely it's improved ? No! The food was cold. The veg were not cooked. Shepherds pie very dry.
Such a shame as it's a great bar.

My Irish Inlaws and a family friend were visiting and we've been wanting to try Devenney's as it's right up the street and we've heard great things about their food.

We arrived around five and there were a number of tables in the restaurant and a few people at the bar...not what I would consider crowded. There was a table of eight who appeared to have been seated just before us.

We were seated and brought menus, the server got our drinks (which took a little while) and came back for our dinner order.

We ordered an Irish Reuben, a Fried Fish Sandwich, two regular sized Fish and Chips, side of onion rings and a Steak and Guinness Pie - they were out of the Steak and Guinness Pie so my father-in-law decided on the Reuben as well.

The food took a very, very long time - the party of eight next to us finally got their food when my mother-in-law finally asked if our food was coming anytime soon. We were told that our food was coming out of the kitchen next - our food finally arrived about five minutes later.

The regular Fish and Chips were good sized, hot, crispy and really good. The fish sandwich was HUGE. The Ruebens were large enough that our friend took half home...all were really good and came with a lot of fries. The server forgot to order the onion rings, which ended up being ok, because there was plenty of food.

I felt bad for the people who came in after us as it had started getting pretty busy; I can only imagine how long their food took.

It's a pub and looks like one, they have plenty of great beers and the food is actually very good, and very reasonably priced. I just wish the kitchen were faster and better prepared for a busy night....

PS - the menu on their website is slightly different that the one in the restaurant; not sure if they haven't updated it or if they had a different menu for St. Patrick's Day - they offered Calves Liver, Shepperd's Pie and Corned Beef and Cabbage - which all looked excellent and were HUGE portions.

Server was friendly, a little busy, but it looks like it was more about the kitchen being slow. We'll probably give it one more try as the food and the value were that good.

My family and I have visited Devenney's on numerous occasions during our 2 stays in the Davenport area within the past 12 months.
I have 2 relatively young kids and the staff do everything possible to make us as comfortable as possible. Michael who served us on our visits, always greets guests with a warm welcome and makes the guests feel special and like friends, as all good Irish Bars should.
I love the steaks here. Great cuts of meat, cooked to perfection and some excellent sides. The kids meals are a decent selection, my sons have had the pizza and fish and chips, both of which are good portions and well presented.
During our last two visits the bar has been lively, but not rowdy, sports games playing on the numerous screens and a good mixture of clientele, young and old..those for meals and those enjoying a drink.
Devenney's has a lively calendar of entertainment, ranging from live Music to Pub Quiz, got to see if they will get the Rugby on in the future!!
Beer is good, a decent pint of Guinness and great value for money.
Well done to all at Devenney's, We cant wait to see you all again next year!!
