My wife and I visited this hotel for our babymoon Valentines Day weekend. We reserved an ocenview room (616) and the view was spectacular! When we arrived in the room, we noticed a funny mildew/moldy smell but thought that maybe the smell was coming from the water in gulf. Having a pregnant wife with an aversion to smells can be challenging at times so we always pack a candle when traveling. We went to dinner that night and came back to the room and it was like being punched in the face by the odor. We checked the fridge and looked everywhere but couldn't determine where it was coming from. Luckily the weather was pleasant so we slept with the sliding door open. The next day we spent most of our time exploring the area and we thought surely that when the cleaning crew came, they would notice the smell and figure out the source and take care of it. Needless to say, when we came back that afternoon it was a funk on top of funk smell. The next morning I went down to the front desk to let them know about the smell in the room and they indicated that they would set off an "odor bomb" in the room. We needed to be out of the room for a couple of hours so we went to breakfast and hung out. We returned about three hours later and the room had not been touched. The front desk apologized and asked if we wanted to move to another room. They did not have another room that had the same or comparable view so I declined. They eventually cleaned the room and set off the "odor bomb" Needless to say, it didn't work. This time it was a flower on top of funk smell so we opened the sliding door to get some relief. If the view from the room was not spectacular, I would have packed up and left after the first day. The staff attempted to solve the problem but they didn't. It's hard for me to imagine the cleaning crew not smelling that horrid smell and not being proactive about finding a solution. The night before the end of our trip, we noticed ants coming from the kitchen sink, so we think that the kitchen drain was the source of the funky smell.
