“A perfect honeymoon”
Reviewed November 23, 2011

We recently stayed at this hotel on honeymoon. It was wonderful. We had an upgraded room with a fabolous view and a balcony to sit out on in the morning or evening. The room was very comfortable and we were provided with an amenity. The staff were very helpful especially in the concierge. The pool was wonderful and service by the pool was excellent. The beach was also lovely. We will be returning some day for sure

Best location in the area to stay. Exceptional hotel, pool & beach. Bathrooms are so so, nothing above the norm for Hilton, but clean and well stocked. The pool area is great, just wish we could have eaten breakfast outside & not paid so much per person. A nice little joint across the street has breakfast for about thee bucks plus tip.

Nearby things...Pier next-door has music and art daily. Sunset are A++, tiki bar in site is really fun, scooter rental in parking garage, dolphin tours available across the street in marina.

Great vacation place, everything is walking distance!!

We stayed in room 923 (nice twenty three), king ocean view with a balcony. The only downside to any room on the 9th floor is that your balcony is a wall instead of a metal wall with slats so we could not enjoy our view while sitting down. Each balcony is outfitted with two chairs & a cocktail table. My guess is that you should request anything from floor 5-8 and your view will be just fine. The third floor is the floor with AC units so stay away from them if possible. Front desk manager was more than happy to work with us on our room options.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 923 (nice twenty three), king ocean view with a balcony. The only downside to any...

Standard Hilton expectations, clean room, nicely appointed; hotel had a "modern" decorating feel to it. Directly on the water, with beach area on your doorstep to walk right onto. I had a beachfront view room, with a balcony that I loved to sit on and watch the ocean, the people, the sunset. Stayed here for a convention, which was perfect combo! Convention rate was awesome. I walked up/down the street to nearby shops, dining and felt very safe. The location is right in the middle of everything - very convenient! The weather was wonderful in October.

Room Tip: Ask for beach side room if you want to enjoy the view!

This is an older property that has been refreshed to have a very contemporary interior. The rooms are very standard with small bathrooms. Personnel seemed friendly and helpful. The beach is lovely. The nearby area screams "old Florida" with T-shirt and swimsuit shops, restaurants, and the marina and boardwalk.

Room Tip: Try to get a beach view.

Our family has visited the Hilton Clearwater Beach 7 times over the past 10 or so years. We have been going since my children (now 14 & 11) were very small so this review may be better suited for families with children. We live in the Northern US and take an annual family vacation usually around spring break time. I will try to include those things that you may not be able to find in other reviews.

First off this Hilton and vacation is about location, location, location. This is a 3-4 star hotel in a 5 star location. The Hilton is right on the beach. The first step off the hotel property is in sand. The beach is incredible. It is very, very large with the soft white sand that is manicured every morning with tractors pulling the "beach rakes". The are out at sunrise every morning. I usually take a run along the beach or take the kids shelling in morning.

The rooms are nice but small. The hotel and rooms have all been remodeled in the past few years. The first year we went we booked through a service and got a "run of the house" or basic type room that over looked the AC units - not a great view and a little noisy. Every year since we have paid the extra money and requested a with a southern view nearest the beach as we can get. This will give you a view overlooking the pools, pier 60 and down the beach. For our family the extra money is well worth the view. You can then spend some down time sitting on the balcony with a cool beverage and enjoy the view. There 2 nice pools with a bar in the middle that serves all types of drinks and food. One of the pools is the more kid friendly 3 foot deep and the other gets as deep as 8 or 10 feet which has been fun as our kids have gotten older and become better swimmers. The pool is right next to the beach and lined with palm trees.

Pier 60 is right next to the Hilton - see http://www.sunsetsatpier60.com/ There are 2 large playgrounds that our kids loved when they were little. They are shaded so they can play even on a hotter day. There is also food and ice cream for sale. Every night at the Pier there are street performers and artisans. The street performers are very entertaining (jugglers, magicians, and much more) that perform for tips. Catch Dallas the fire breathing juggler if you get a chance. He has been their since we first started going and is very entertaining.

There are many good places to eat within walking distance. A few of our favorites are Frenchy's Saltwater (grouper sandwich is great) and Frenchy's Rockaway is right on the beach. A mid afternoon lunch outdoors along the beach is a fun time http://frenchysonline.com/ . The breakfast buffet at the Hilton is good but a little spendy. We are not real big breakfast eaters so the buffet is not all that appealing. We really love the Shanty Grill that is right across the street from the Hilton. It is very small but the breakfast is very good and the prices are very reasonable. There is usually a line out the door to get in for a reason.

There are many things to do that depart from the marina that is about a block away. This webcam gives views of the beach and marina http://www.beachtourism.com/pier.htm
A couple of our favorite and most memorable excursions have been the Captain Memo's Pirate Ship and The Little Toot boat trips. The pirate ship was a blast when the kids were little. The crew plays games with the kids and they have a really good time. They also serve adult beverages and play music to keep the adults entertained. After the kids got older I wanted to go again but they wouldn't let me. The Little Toot boat doesn't look like much when it is tied up at the dock, but if you like to see dolphins I highly recommend it. With this type of boat they are able to create a large wake behind the boat that the dolphins love to jump through. You won't need a zoom lens to get good pictures - they are usually right next to the boat. Bring a wind breaker as it can get a little cool and with a little wind there can be some boat spray too. We have also done the aquarium (home of Winter), day trips to Busch Gardens and my son and I have had a few fun rounds of golf at the Clearwater Country Club.

On our last visit we stopped by the Sheraton Sand Key (just a couple of miles south of the Hilton) as we have always wondered if we should stay there instead. The hotel may be a little nicer and newer but the beach and surrounding area is no contest. The walk from the hotel to the beach is actually quite a ways and the sand is not nearly as nice.

On our last stay we tried a Jr Suite for a little more room. It was nice to have more room and the view is directly over the beach. The only negative was that it only had one king bed (I think that is the only option) so we had a rollaway brought in.

I hope that families considering this area for a family vacation will find this review helpful and create as many fond family memories as we have.

Room Tip: Southern view near the beach.

Booked a 4 star hotel thru hotwire, and frankly I was disappointed that it didn't turn out to be the Hyatt. Anyway, the Hilton was very nice. Our room was good, although it street view and right across from the hotel elevator and a bit noisy. We were able to sleep thought. All the staff was friendly. The location couldn't have been better. We walked to everything. The pool was great. We were able to get good lounge chair locations every single day. Drinks from the bar were good. So nice to be right on the beach. Our only disappointment was the breakfast buffet. The food was not great - cold eggs, cold pancakes. Oh well. We learn that the Beach Shanty right across the street was a better breakfast choice. There was a conference or two when we were there and that made for a little rowdiness, but nothing terrible. We would stay at the Hilton again.
