This hotel was the only one with vacancy left when we decided to go to Florida, which is how we ended up there. I am usually not a fan of hotels where your door is outside. Our first room, on the outside corner of the second floor, was miserable. One of the mattresses practically collapsed anytime anybody sat on it, and the other had a big dip in the middle. Facing the street meant it was super loud, and the bathroom was very small/crowded, even for my little kids. The straw that broke the camel's back was that I had to stand in several inches of water as I took a shower. Between all that and a lingering odor (I think it smelled like the off-gassing from plastic packaging, husband said it was just old hotel smell), I had enough. We asked to be transferred to a new room, and they were very nice about it. We ended up right next to the office on the first floor, still facing the street, but it was a bit quieter and the beds were better, so everything felt better after a decent-ish night's sleep. The fact that it was just two blocks from the beach made it tolerable. The kids enjoyed the pool, too. The woman at the desk told me the first floor rooms had been more recently updated, which explains why it was nicer, although there was still a bit of an odor.
One last tip, we had planned on trying to eat at ihop, just a few blocks away, but it was too crowded, so instead we tried a breakfast buffet at the grey hotel a little closer to our hotel on the same street as ihop, and it was great! Reasonably priced, lots of fresh fruit, actual eggs, warm traditional breakfast foods, plus yogurt and granola and whatnot. Whilewewon't stay at that hotel again, we would eat at that restaurant again.
