They sent us an email with a price special and when we called to book they wouldn't honor their own ad. I said you sent me this price and they said sorry we can't honor it. I booked down the street at the Travelodge. They matched the advertised price that Beachview had orginally sent. What really makes me mad is we have stayed there every year renting as many as 3 rooms a week for the last ten years. We are done with them now.

We just spent 2 nights at the Beachview Inn, and were traveling with another couple. As others have pointed out, the location is good but the property needs some work. They are in the process of remodeling, with a number of rooms in deconstruction. We were there over the weekend, and they even worked on Sat. and Sun.

The front desk staff could be a lot better - the woman who checked us in initially told our friends they didn't have a reservation (we made it a month ago and had the confirmation), then said it looked like they had checked out. She mumbled that there wasn't a room left, then apprently "found" one that wasn't the same grade they had reserved. Finally, she asked ME if I had signed for someone (and said the name) earlier. I had no idea what she was talking about, but after 15 minutes, she gave our friends the room cards and said they would be in room 403. They went to that room, tried to use the key card and a woman opened the door. She was the woman the clerk had mentioned earlier, and it was her room!!! Back to the front desk, where the clerk became a little defensive and denied saying that room number. Our friends got room 307 and we were finally able to settle in.
The room was large and basically clean, so we weren't concerned with the decor. We really liked that there were restaurants right next door - Crabby's, McDonald's (good for breakfast), and Frenchy's South Beach. And we utilized all three!
You get charged a daily fee for a room safe, but ours was unusable because the key was missing and we couldn't open it. We reported it the first night and were told it would be taken care of, but we never did get the key and had to pay for a safe we couldn't even use.
There was a single-cup coffee maker, a toaster, a small fridge (that actually kept things cold), a microwave and a 2-burner hotplate type of stove. There was one pot, some odds and ends dishes and utensils, but it would be very difficult to actually prepare a meal. However, out friends' room didn't have the hotplate, the fridge didn't fit in the space beneath the counter so was sticking out in the room, and there wasn't an electrical outlet near the coffeepot.
We liked that there was a card-sized table and a sofa, and we enjoyed the view. Hopefully they are in the process of completely revamping this place. It was OK for a 1 or 2 night stay, but I wouldn't care to be there for any length of time.

We stayed at Disney for the week but decided to take a side-trip to Clearwater for a night before heading home. We randomly chose this hotel when we saw it because after spending tons of $$$ at deluxe resort at Disney, we didn't want to spend a ridiculous amount for one night (so that eliminated the Hyatt next door)

We stayed on the 5th floor with a beach view. The view was amazing! We were not in a floor over-looking the pool so it was quiet.

The room to my surprise was very big, being a suite and was clean as far as we knew. The shower seemed to be renovated, but the actual room part only seemed partial. There was a flat screen in the bed area but an old tube TV in the kitchen area....and the bedding looked like a bed cover straight out of the 80's, but the couch looked newer.

Mishaps- When we first got in the room we had no curtain by the bedding. So anyone walking by could see us in our room...we called a guy came up right away to install a rod and fix it. No big deal. The other mishap: we turned on the old tube tv and after 5 minutes it went black and started to burn/smell. My boyfriend immediately unplugged it before it blew up (lol) and we called the front desk again. Two workers came to inspect it and took it away. We figured this tv was probably here because it was last in-stock and they wanted to wait until it just died before getting rid of it. Well, to our surprise, the old tube TV was replaced with an even OLDER tube tv....

Oh, there's one elevator and it's pretty shady/run down looking. Also the 5th floor button never lit up either when we pressed it.

All in all it wasn't bad, but it definitely needs some improvements. We never experienced an "renovation" noise like others had stated, we probably just missed it or they didn't work on those days.

Room Tip: beach view, not located by the pool

The Beachview Inn is a simple, basic hotel, but the location and views from the balcony make it worth while. If you're looking for a spa resort, or to be waited on, then don't stay here. But, if you're looking for a decent size room, (we had the suite) with two queen beds, a sitting area with sofa and tv, a small kitchenette with mini fridge, stove, microwave etc then this is for you. The hotel is located on the beach walk and is a 3 to 5 minute walk to the beach, the sunset views from the balcony are breathtaking. The rooms were basically clean but if you find a problem, the front desk is very helpful. I'm not sure why some reviewers had problems with the staff. I found both the day and evening staff very pleasant and accommodating. When I asked for more pillows and coffee packets, they were in the room later that day. They also gave recommendations for dining and printed our boarding passes for us. They serve a continental breakfast in a small room that includes different cereals, bagels, english muffins, oatmeal, assorted packaged donuts, yogurt, orange juice and coffee. Yes, they ask you to not take anything out and it ends at 9:00, but went on until 9:30. The hotel is currently being renovated, we stayed on the fourth floor, while they were working on the fifth floor and other than running into some workers on the elevator, we really didn't notice. I would say the areas they need to improve on are the maids, who could really do a much better job cleaning, and upgrading their paper products; the tp was pretty low quality...which is not a big thing really, but could be nicer. This is the second time I have stayed at the Beachview Inn and I will continue to book there for future trips. They also give a 10% discount for return visitors! The location more than makes up for not being a "ritzy" hotel!

Room Tip: Gulf view rooms are worth the extra price, the balcony looks out into the gulf and the sunsets were spectacular!

The rooms are decently clean and convenient, however for the price you can get something MUCH better. The service absolutely sucks. Management skills horrible that's if you can even get a hold of someone. Will NEVER recommend this place to anyone, would actually highly recommend against it. Save yourself the trouble and aggrivation go to a nicer hotel. STAY AWAY FROM THIS HOTEL!!!!!
