Have seen good reviews of this place and have wanted to try it so we braved the spring break traffic and gave it a try. Cesare greets and makes you feel welcome. The place is not white tablecloth haute cuisine but friendly, casual, well worn and comfortable. Menu is extensive and there are specials every day. Service is just right, quick, not rushed efficient and our server, Nick , was smart, friendly and very professional. Nick is a young man but very confident and poised and capable.
Started with a glass of dry prosecco and bread with an olive oil, basil and garlic dipping sauce. The oil mixture was to die for, good quality full flavored oil. Bread was the only disappointment, kind of soft plain white bread but the oil made it OK. Cesare- go to Felice Italian Deli, get the bread Ciro Mancini uses at his place.
Wife had the sachettini special, little bags of house made pasta stuffed with ricotta and spinach served with prosciutto and peas in a cream sauce. A killer - real, fresh pasta is a treat.
I had the Veal Frank Sinatra, thin sliced veal with scallops, shrimp and crab served in a lemon, butter, caper sauce very good. But I was not going to be denied the fresh pasta so I had a side of house made linguini with ragu - the sauce of Bologna. So very good, that'll be my main course next trip.
All told, this was a very good meal, the service was never too slow or quick, the waiter did not hover and interrupt us. Cesare was gracious and welcoming and the food, except the bread which was made good by the sauce, was terrific.
