Camelot Beach Resort

The Camelot is an appealing, affordable, stylish, art deco, throw back hotel to "old Florida" in appearance. Its not a large property, but it is very quaint and for those like clean, convenient & close proximity to restaurants, shoping and, of course -- the BEACH this is an excellent choice! We stayed 2 weekends in a row and once we parked...never drove untl it was time to check out. The roof top deck was great! The pool was clean and refreshing (heated too!). The staff very helpful and friendly, especially Vicki! We stayed in a 2nd floor unit and a 1st floor unit. All of the units are different in decor & efficiency in size which works best for us as our focus isto take in the Florida sunshine and relax. We loved the location! Across the street is a Dunkin Donuts, Quiznos, pizza and convenience store. It is a gem, one block off Clearwater Beach...we will be back!

Room Tip: Second floor rooms probablya little more quiet with less patrons walking by. First floor great choic...

This was a nice place to stay especially considering the cost of rooms in Clearwater. Close to beach and shops. The pool was heated and clean. Did not know towels were available for pool till I read the reviews. Parking is a difficult but most places are within walking distance. The beds in our room were very uncomfortable. Like other reviews the floors are dirty and flip flops are a good idea. House keeping does not supply anything unless asked including clean towels. For a few night stay this is a good place if you are not expecting upscale lodging.

The Camelot is a refurbished old hotel with some nice character. It is located 1 block from the beach, and none of the rooms have a view of the beach. In fact, all the rooms look into the center of the U shaped building where the pool resides. So if you want upscale and privacy, this isn't your place. It is however located within walking distance to most anywhere you need to go and only 4 blocks from the Pier 60 area that is so popular. Many restaurants are within walking distance. You can also catch the trolley across the road that will take you many places. There are plenty of places to walk your dog and a nice small park is across the road. The staff was extremely eager to please and very helpful. The prices are affordable for the location. It does have a nice rooftop over age 18 area where you can sit, sip on an adult beverage you haul up the spiral staircase, and enjoy the view of other buildings, the park, and a slightly obstructed view of the beach.

The downfalls for the Camelot are: there are only 11 parking places by the hotel, so if you don't get one of them you have to park on the road 1 block in the back...which is free parking. The bathroom for the studio is extremely small with almost no place to put your stuff and the shower is tiny, whereas, when you turn on the water, it takes up the whole shower and there is no room left to get away from the water to wash yourself. The refrigerator is not full size (but almost) and wasn't very cool, so we didn't feel safe putting meat in it; also doesn't have an icemaker. The kitchen sink is very small and hard to wash dishes in. There isn't a washer/dryer, but a laundrymat is next door. The decor was outdated and the tv wasn't hdtv.

If you normally stay in mid to higher end condos/hotels directly on the beach, you will not like this one as is older and not at all upscale; however, it does have character, is fairly clean, and is a good value.

The Camelot allows our large travel group a great place to stay with the conveniences of home. Each unit has a unique feel and styling, kitchen (complete with utensils), and a full size refrigerator. There are few units so you feel like your in your own private community when you stay there. The Camelot features a heated pool that is very comfortable on warm and cold days. The rooftop sundeck was upgraded last year and now has a large top of the line grill, regular and high top bar chairs, a few reclining beach chairs, and table.

The staff are always king and accommodating. Vickie, Nick and Bob are wonderful to work with and always make you feel comfortable. This was our groups 6th year staying at the Camelot and we will be back.

Room Tip: Every room is great and has different styling. We always like to request the same room, but if unav...

This was a very good value resort, let me start with the positives, Great location 1 block to the beach within walking distance to all the town restaurants and shopping (10 min walk to pier 60 center of town) our room was very spacious with 2 baths and 2 full beds and a pull out. The room was fairly clean but the floors were always dirty even after a fresh mop by the end of the day our feet were black from walking barefoot on the floors, i would suggest bringing a pair of flipflops for just wearing around the room. This was the main reason i didnt give it a 4 star. The beds were very hard and loud with any movement. Bring your own toiletries as the ones supplied were very substandard for hotel stay. The management office was onlyopen 10 to 4 also so make sure if you need anything you take care of it first thing before you head out for the beach for the day. The pool was nice and warm, much warmer than the ocean was, and there are a few floating toys and beach toys available so check it out before you go buying some of your own, we even used a chair that was left there twice during our stay to bring to the beach and back. There are beach towels available to check out at the office which is nice to save space in your luggage. Housekeeping is NOT a daily thing here, if you need something ask or they wont come in, even had to take out our own trash, so that was differrent but didnt ruin our fun. A few ideas for the owner or managers that would make this place nicer, invest in a few brooms, spic and span mops, dustbusters/vaccums (without daily cleaning the floors really get dirty here) some new cleaner pool towels with a bin for the dirty ones, and some nicer matresses if you want to splurge. Also there should be some recycling we tossed out so many bottles i felt terrible, but no where else to put them.

Activies Near by:

of course the beach was the main draw but we went to the local aquarium without knoing it was where they did some stuff for the movie dolphin tale, so watch the movie and go there especially if you have kids, also we took a few rides 1 to tarpon springs sponge docks, had much nicer shops and the sponge industry was interesting, a few miles from there is a wonderful hike at brooker creek wildlife preserve (totally free) we saw anhinga and a gator along the trail, also went out to honeymoon island ($8 for fee for a car full) and hiked the trails there seeing atleast 30 osprey, bald eagle, turtles, and owls, if your not up for the hike then the beaches alone probably arent worth the drive, much rockier than those at clearwater beach, but the rocks were interesting som have agate like crystals in them

Restaurants:
We tried all the main restaurants around, pretty much all the same, our favorite food was at Cooters, they had the tastiest grouper sandwich try it blackened!, also the tequila wings were delicious

Any other questions i would happily try to answer them, enjoy clearwater!

We spent one month at the resort in 2012 and again in 2013. The staff is friendly and always asking if we needed anything. Vickie, Nick, and Bob are the greatest. The location is so close to the beach (within walking distance). Restaurants are everywhere. The pool area and sundeck are very clean. The grill on the sundeck is fabulous. We already made our reservations for a one month stay in February 2014.

Room Tip: Rooms on the upper level are quieter.

We enjoyed our stay and loved the proximity to beautiful Clearwater Beach. The room was nicely decorated and quite comfortable. The pool was surrounded by lounge chairs. There are many restaurants within walking distance. We really enjoyed breakfast at the Blue Sky which was a few blocks away. On a windy day we took the Jolly Trolley down to St. Pete's Beach & back. As seniors it cost us $2.25 each for an all day pass. The staff is friendly & helpful, the price is reasonable and we would stay here again.
