Owner description: Young or old, Captain Memo's Original Pirate Cruise has something for everyone. Cruise away into the fantasy world of swashbucklers and pirates aboard "The Pirates Ransom." The frequent sighting of playful dolphins just adds to the excitement. For the children, entertainment from our friendly pirates include pirate stories, treasure hunts, face painting, water bun battles and musical games. For the adults, we offer complimentary soft drinks, beer and wine plus a full cash bar. Light snacks are also available for a nominal charge.

We board Memo's ship with 4 adult and 6 kids, ages 4 through 10. EVERYONE (adults included) had an awesome time! The crew goes all out to entertain the kids, but includes the adults too, if they want. It's water gun fights -- and more!

We took the sunset cruise in October and the weather was perfect. We really enjoyed the sail around the area as well, while the kids were goofing around with the other pirates. For adults, they served beer and wine (included) and the kids helped themselves to beverages at the bar. They offered an "upsell" rum drink that was yummy and you could get in a souvenir cup.

I highly recommend this cruise for families with younger kids. It's not scary (though my little one kept asking about where Blackbeard was!) and filled with fun.

We did the pirate cruise on St. Pattys day. It was actually a gift to two of my children who's birthdays are in March, from their Grandpa. It was beyond anything we expected. The staff were excellent and so much fun! They kept the children entertained and the drinks (soda and beer) flowing. The staff also engaged the adults at times and we were able to join in the fun! I will definitely do this again and highly recommend it!

If you have kids, take the 10am or 2pm cruise. If you don't want a bunch of kids around, take one of the later cruises. It lasts about two hours (at least our 2pm one did) and the staff is really friendly and funny. It's a cool thing to experience at least once!

Captain Memo's Pirate Cruise looked like a unique experience for those looking to getaway from the typical tourism destinations found in Central Florida. In truth, with the notable exception of our daughter, we would rather have been anywhere else for this 2 hour cruise.

Let's start with the few good points of this sailing while keeping in mind that the entire cruise was geared toward children. In fact, in a transparent attempt to keep the adults satisfied, Captain Memo's distributes free alcohol. What followed that announcement was a good start to the cruise with the children receiving squirt guns and running around the lower deck squirting everyone else. From there it got dramatically worse though with petty games and story time.

From an adult perspective this was an absolute waste of money. Charging $40 per person to ride around a boat and watch our children play silly games was really just a sad substitute for a babysitter while many parents ignored their children and got drunk for two hours. Nothing and I mean absolutely nothing was even attempted to pacify the adults. No attempts at dolphin sightings, so history or educational narratives, absolutely nothing.

I tried hard to come up with something useful to say or some compliment to give but other than the crew (who really did try to entertain the kids) there is nothing. The ship doesn't even look authentic in the least bit once you board. The sails never come down, the ship is powered by diesel engines and the acting is really not that good.

In short, if you have a child under 10 years old then they will probably enjoy this cruise. The problem is that Captain Memo's charges you to ride along at a pretty steep cost. Your children don't even learn about pirate lore let alone anything else educational. If spending $100+ dollars for two hours of silly games sounds good to you then go for it. For most people this is a tourist trap of the highest order though and is very misleading.

Wow. The crew is fantastic. They had such high energy and went above and beyond to make all passengers feel welcome. They were FANTASTIC with the kids. We brought our two sons, ages 17 months and 3. Our 3 year old is somewhat shy, but still had a great time. There were areas that we felt good letting them walk around a bit. We went on a day that was overcast and windy, but we still had so much fun. It was worth every penny. (It was $100 for our family of 4, 2 adults and two babies). Fun atmosphere, drinks, what's not to love :)
