Visited Cooters because we heard that they had good steaks. It so happened that we visited on a night when they had all you can eat crab legs for $26.00. Although we didn't order this, many people did and it seemed like a bargin.
We were setted immediately and the waiter was attentive and friendly. My wife and I both ordered steak; mine medium rare and hers medium well. My steak arrived cooked as requested but my wife's was underdone. No problem taking it back but it took a long time to be returned. To their credit, they gave her another large glass of wine on the house for her trouble. They ended up redoing the entire dish which is what took all of the time. I was finished by the time her dinner arrived. The steak was tender enought but average. By that I really mean that it was good but that is what you expect when you order, in that sense it was average for the expectation. My black beans and rice were not hot when served. The garlic bread was good.
Unfortunately I felt that Cooters had zero ambiance or charm. Just a front porch and our view was of a wooden wall decorated with product posters.
Might be worth it for all you can eat crab legs but our experience was just average.

when this restaurant looks full of local floridians then it can only mean the crabs are on the menu and boy can these people cook them to perfection, just look at the locals in the place they just cannot get enough of them and it does'nt matter what generation they are young or old.
the rack of ribs are also awesome and its a big plateful so make sure you miss dinner or just have a light lunch.
If you like american football then the rear bar is dedicated to the game just come in grab a beer and soak in the atmosphere even the wife was enjoying the game and she has not got a clue what was going on (oops).
its on a quite road just behind HOOTERS so mke sure you walk round to it.

After an afternoon at the beach, we were very hungry. Had read about this place and walked over from our hotel. Great service! Our waiter was very good! Gave us some suggestions on what to try. Had the shrimp and oysters. Good Floridian atmosphere! Watched some football. Would go back if we had the time! Gotta try it! You will love it!

All 5 of us had different meals and all were very good! The place looks kinda sketchy, but do not let that fool you! The tables are plastic and so are the chairs so do not eat here if you are looking for something fancy! Waiter was very friendly and came around often seeing if we need anything! Overall good time by the bay! Just a FYI- Fries are 1.25 extra..... l

Thank you! So happy to hear that you all enjoyed your meals and had a good time! Just want to mention that it appears that you were seated on our patio, and yes, we do have molded melamine tables out there. In our dining room and adjoining sports bar, you will find wooden tables and chairs, and also a few booths. I hope you'll try dining inside next time! We will look forward to serving you again!

One of a few restaurants on Clearwater beach that advertise to " cook your catch " after a day of fishing ( The Queen Fleet is always our choice). Sure, they'll cook it up for you, for the same price as their steak dinner on the menu! And don't expect your server to happy about it either. Bottom line....Stay away from this place. There are much better restaurants on the beach. And with better views too

We are sorry to hear that you thought our prices for preparing the fish you brought in to be too expensive. As you mentioned, there are not many restaurants that offer this service on the beach. We've always done the "You catch 'em, we cook 'em" menu since we opened in 1993. This is not something that we make money on, it is just a nice service for our guests. Our cooks, servers, and dishwashers all help to prepare your meal which also includes in the price any spices or ingredients we use to make the fish delicious as well as two side dishes. As you can see we still have costs associated with your meal even though you brought in the fish. Again we apologize for any inconvenience and ask that you reconsider Cooters on your next fishing adventure!
