The place is smallish but a really nice laid back atmosphere more like you would find in the nicer Chicago neighborhoods and very attentive service and such friendly clientele...we struck up conversations with several other diners... I wanted excellent food without fancy and was finished with over loud tourist traps...We had a groupon (which they happily accepted) for two lava rock entrees, $20 worth of alcohol, and a shared dessert. My husband stuck with a Stella despite the wide variety of craft beers and I tried the homemade red sangria which was excellent. We each ordered the surf and turf, both with the most flavorful, tender, filet minion, and one with two huge fresh deep sea scallops and the other with a healthy portion of buttery and tender tuna which we just seared lightly. We loved that the entrees cooked right at the table to each person's liking...you are in charge--perfection! We also ordered one side of seared Brussels sprouts with tomatoes and one of roasted potatoes. Just right! The entrees come with three dipping sauces: a sake-soy; a dill horseradish; and a chili plum that were so good. I let my husband choose desert and he wanted the two fresh baked warm cookies with cream... despite the fact that they have chocolate fondue, a daily special of a new kind of bread pudding, warm brie with candied pecans and other goodies...My Bad! But I compensated with a lovely Portuguese Black Port. :) We probably would not have stopped in without the groupon ..but we will be back!
