In a Nutshell - Great Staff - very helpful -- Clean Rooms -- Excellent Location
Just got home from an 11 day stay in florida (first two nights were spent here). Let me start by saying that I had read a few reviews prior to booking and in summary I was expecting nothing fancy just a clean place to sleep. We arrived at least five hours late due to weather and flight changes so the pleasant and humorous personality of the gentleman working the desk was very nice. Once in our room we found just what I had read - clean and comfortable but nothing fancy. The room could stand to be updated but that would only lead to raising the rates. The next morning I found myself talking with the lady working the desk to find out about local events and times and she was very friendly and eager to help. Anything she did not knowabout she was looking up on the internet for me and giving me a printout. Oh ya did I mention the Location. Beach and swimmable ocean - 2 min walk. Pier 60 (look it up) less than 10 min walk. Restraunts and night life - 1 min walk to first three stops.
My only complaint would be that while swimming in the pool my son was grosed out by a large clump of hair floating around ( from the second floor it looked like a large leaf ). It would have been nice to have a better breakfest sellection (coffee, juice, pastrys, cold cereal, bread, and a toaster) but they have a very small lobby and really dont have room for more.

Totally enjoyed the stay here. Clean rooms, comfy mattress, nice kitchenette, cable tv, super-friendly staff, parking close to hotel room, short walk to restaurants and pier 60. Spectacular view of the beach from room. The beach here is beautiful, very short walk and soft white sand. It is much nicer than the beach at Sand Key Park which is very long walk to water and the sand consists of mostly broken shells, hard on the feet. I would take the Travelodge over any of the high end hotels. Hi to Kathy, store manager, great job!

Granted this is an ancient hotel with its best attribute by far being its location across the street from Clearwater Beach. The beach view rooms have a great view from the balcony as in the photo. The place is old. The windows leak the air on windy days. I wonder what they are like on colder days which do come occasionally in the winter. The bathroom is small with little hot water. Our room had only a little toilet paper left on the roll and no replacement was provided. We called down to the desk to ask for another roll and he said it would take a while as there were 12 other requests before ours (not a good indication). The TV is an old tube TV which is poor compared to all the HD TV's in hotels these days. The breakfast is a choice of two cereals and some store wrapped muffins. We were there over the end of spring break 2013 and it was a busy, noisy area and sleep was not good. It could be much quieter during another time of year. The elevator is the smallest one I have ever seen. A family with much luggage will need to take turns or walk it up to the fourth floor. The pool area is nice and protected on a windy day on the beach. The neighboring hotel is open to this one and when its guests are loud the sound carries over to the Travelodge.

Room Tip: It costs more for a beach view room but it is worth a little more to be able to enjoy the gulf water...

Good Day, Thank you for taking the time for a review. I agree with most of your review, yes the elevator is small so a family with a lot of luggage may need to make 2 trips.Yes, we still have some tube TV's in our rooms. We are in the process of replacing them with flat screens but it will take a little time to get to all the rooms. We are also installing new windows, but once again it takes time(we have 2 floors completed already). Yes, we are a older hotel, but we are clean, friendly, and treat our guests with kindness, respect and friendship.
Take care

Kathy & Team

Okay, this place is a bit dated in many ways. Still it is pleasant and clean and you can't beat the location. It is steps away from the beach and promenade and all that Clearwater has to offer. We walked and shopped and made it to Pier 60, a lovely walk. The pool is nice and simple and clean. Everyone is friendly and folks even spoke to each other from balcony to balcony. We happened to arrive at 10am from a red eye flight from the west coast. Our room was not yet ready, but we were able to obtain a parking pass and enjoy the beach for the day. Same on check out day. Very thoughtful. Also, the breakfast isn't much, but all you really need to get your day going. I will no longer stay in hotels that do not offer a complimentary breakfast, but it amazes me how some folks think they are enitled to a cooked to order full buffet. It is what it is- a great beach hotel/motel. Also, some of the most comfortable beds I've slept on. Enjoy!
