Owner description: Ruth Eckerd Hall's near perfect acoustics have received rave reviews from artists, technicians and audience members since opening in 1983. Combined with state of the art equipment, comfortable amenities and world class entertainment, it's no wonder that it has been recognized as one of Tampa Bay's best concert halls numerous times as well as a finalist for Pollstar's Theater of the Year twice. In 2003, the Hall's audience chamber received a complete refurbishment, its 2,180 seats were reconfigured to accommodate more patrons with disabilities, and lobby and restrooms were expanded.Ruth Eckerd Hall has continental-style seating. Almost every patron prizes a center seat and continental-style provides the maximum possible. There are no support columns, no obstructed views. Seating is sloped and staggered. For safety and comfort, the aisle space is wider than traditional layouts; entry and exit can be made while patrons remain seated. There are 14 sets of double doors leading out from the audience chamber. With this configuration, a full house can be cleared in a matter of minutes.Among the original community leaders who conceptualized building a performing arts center this side of Tampa Bay, was Jack Eckerd. During construction, Mr. Eckerd designated a significant contribution as a birthday gift to his beloved wife, Ruth, making the dream a reality. The Hall proudly bears her name.

We went to see Frankie Valli and the 4 Seasons on March 4 2014. We saw Frankie before and he puts on a great show, and this is a great place to see the show. There isn't a bad seat in the whole place, and the accoustics are excellent. Staff are all helpful and friendly. Parking has been well planned, and is free which is nice to see these days.

The one major flaw is that there are almost 100 seats across in each row, and there are no aisles in the centre. Some people come late and have to disrupt 50 people to get to the centre of the aisle. Some people had to leave during the show and 50 people have to stand to let them get through and come back. I have been in a theatre when there has been a medical emergency during a show, staff were able to get to the person and take them out (diabetic who passed out because they hadn't had food in 8 hours), but, I don't know how that would have worked out without aisles. It could be dangerous if there was a fire or other emergency too.

However, we loved the theatre and we love Frankie and the 4 Seasons, and this is a great theatre with great shows.

Ruth Exkerd has some of the best accoustics in any venue in the Tampa Bay area. They offer a great selection of world-class talent, have ample parking and comfortable seating.

This was our first time to visit the Ruth Eckerd and we were pleasantly surprised. We enjoy attending concerts in Florida especially during the winter months as there are always so many performers that enjoying coming to Florida. We got tickets at the last moment and were on the last row but didn't have a problem seeing or hearing the performance. Lighting and acoustics were great as was the space between the rows. There is not a center isle just long rows so if you pick an end seat you have people all over you but then you have easy access to get out. The last row did get us out of the theatre quickly and to the parking lot which is an adventure. Saw two men arguing at each other about a parking spot so arrive early. Park on the lower level across the street from the hall, back in and you can get out a little quicker. The lines to leave were lengthy and and required great patience. Worth a visit for sure!!

Saw Whoopi Goldberg at this venue last night. I had forgotten what a perfect place this is to attend a performance. There is not a bad seat in the whole place! We sat in row Q. I could see every detail of Whoopi's face. I could also hear every word she said! Acoustics here are great! Although it was a big audience, there was plenty of parking for everyone. Will certainly return there soon.v

Plenty of parking but you need a little patience.
The Hall itself was spacious and well laid out so that there really isn't a bad seat from which to watch the stage. Liked that the space in the rows between seats was more than adequate.
