Owner description: Ruth Eckerd Hall's near perfect acoustics have received rave reviews from artists, technicians and audience members since opening in 1983. Combined with state of the art equipment, comfortable amenities and world class entertainment, it's no wonder that it has been recognized as one of Tampa Bay's best concert halls numerous times as well as a finalist for Pollstar's Theater of the Year twice. In 2003, the Hall's audience chamber received a complete refurbishment, its 2,180 seats were reconfigured to accommodate more patrons with disabilities, and lobby and restrooms were expanded.Ruth Eckerd Hall has continental-style seating. Almost every patron prizes a center seat and continental-style provides the maximum possible. There are no support columns, no obstructed views. Seating is sloped and staggered. For safety and comfort, the aisle space is wider than traditional layouts; entry and exit can be made while patrons remain seated. There are 14 sets of double doors leading out from the audience chamber. With this configuration, a full house can be cleared in a matter of minutes.Among the original community leaders who conceptualized building a performing arts center this side of Tampa Bay, was Jack Eckerd. During construction, Mr. Eckerd designated a significant contribution as a birthday gift to his beloved wife, Ruth, making the dream a reality. The Hall proudly bears her name.

We just returned home from seeing a wonderful group called "The Midtown Men" at the Ruth Eckerd Hall in Clearwater. Their concert was fabulous. If you get the chance, you will thoroughly enjoy it. All four of them were part of the Broadway run of "The Jersey Boys". Their concert gets 5 stars.

BUT...read on about the venue - Ruth Eckerd Hall--- it probably holds 4,000 seats.

What my husband and I were mostly concerned with was the Ruth Eckerd Hall itself. Its a virtual fire trap. There are 50 seats across about the majority of the hall and increasing probably to at least 80 acrodss at the upper back portion. THERE ARE NO MIDDLE AISLE!!! Just aisles on the sides - do you realize how many people have to come through that area if something were to go wrong.....it gave us a very uneasy feeling. In speaking to others around us, they shared our sentiments exactly and were wondering, how did the fire marshals pass on those plans???

Please check this out, will you?

We have enjoyed going to concerts and seeing broadway musicals here for the past 3 years. Prices are always reasonable and we always get good seating. Wheel chair seating located only a dozen or so rows from the stage. Never attended Hall & Oats concert before so we were very pleasantly surprised with their musicality and excellent arrangements. They played all their greatest hits and did not disappoint us. Have a great fan base in Tampa area and have performed here 7 times. We've become instant fans and will watch for them in the future.

I've seen quite a few concerts and plays here. There aren't many other choices in the area to go to. While the line up of shows here is pretty good, the seating set up is a nightmare. There are no center aisles to get to the middle seats. You have to cross 30 people. Hopefully you don't need the bathroom during the show. I always buy an end seat for this reason. If you're a woman, try to use the bathroom before everyone else runs out at intermission. There is a full bar and various food and snacks.

We saw the oldies show and did not have expensive seats as almost sold out, but the performance and venue were perfect.

We attended Roger Hodgson's ('Supertramp' writer, performer, singer) concert on March 22nd. The music was so clear and easy to hear. The acoustics are superb. The seats are comfortable we were in seats T10 - 14. The seats were large with plenty of aisle between your knees and the seat in front of you for patrons to easily slide by. I look forward to making the 3 hour drive anytime one of my favorite artists is featured there.
