Owner description: Ruth Eckerd Hall's near perfect acoustics have received rave reviews from artists, technicians and audience members since opening in 1983. Combined with state of the art equipment, comfortable amenities and world class entertainment, it's no wonder that it has been recognized as one of Tampa Bay's best concert halls numerous times as well as a finalist for Pollstar's Theater of the Year twice. In 2003, the Hall's audience chamber received a complete refurbishment, its 2,180 seats were reconfigured to accommodate more patrons with disabilities, and lobby and restrooms were expanded.Ruth Eckerd Hall has continental-style seating. Almost every patron prizes a center seat and continental-style provides the maximum possible. There are no support columns, no obstructed views. Seating is sloped and staggered. For safety and comfort, the aisle space is wider than traditional layouts; entry and exit can be made while patrons remain seated. There are 14 sets of double doors leading out from the audience chamber. With this configuration, a full house can be cleared in a matter of minutes.Among the original community leaders who conceptualized building a performing arts center this side of Tampa Bay, was Jack Eckerd. During construction, Mr. Eckerd designated a significant contribution as a birthday gift to his beloved wife, Ruth, making the dream a reality. The Hall proudly bears her name.

“Great Concert venue”

We've seen many shows here. Great staff, reasonable ticket prices, pleasant surroundings. Always sit in the first few rows and really like the shows. No negatives.

“Great small concert venue”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 19, 2013

I attended a Glenn Frey concert here recently and the acoustics were great. They offer snacks and drinks for sale in the lobby. The parking lot is slow to clear out after the show but that's true of most venues.

“Nice place to see a decent show”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 14, 2013

Ruth Eckerd Hall is a landmark in the area, and it's age definitely shows. It needs a serious facelift. Besides that, once you get comfy in your seat, it's a great place to see a show. I've seen dozens of shows here, and it's designed so every seat is a great seat. From Yanni and Brian Cublertson to Broadway shows, there's always something great to see, and the prices are farily reasonable. The staff also very helpful and kind. Valet parking is available, but you really don't need it, parking is front and center (no pun). It'll take longer to wait for your car after the show, then to walk to it.

“Top Entertainment Venue”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 14, 2013

For a relatively small theater they schedule top name entertainment. I've read that, for their size, they have the most sell-outs of any theater in the U.S. This season we have tickets for their Broadway series. There's plenty of parking and the parking is free.
