“Good food, good people, a good time in spite of the gimmicks”
Reviewed May 3, 2013

Like many places, Carmel has begun to use an ipad menu. This makes it difficult to compare different dishes. We were lucky that our waiter knew the menu well enough to guide us through our options. Wine list was good - we were there on a wine sampler night. Wish our wonderful waiter knew a bit more about his wines. Having said that, I'll be back.

“Great food & great time”
Reviewed March 22, 2013

This was our 2nd time here (1 year apart) & the service was much better than last time. The experience of ordering on the ipads was also much smoother. Just like the last time, all the food was exceptions. We celebrated a birthday & a wedding engagement here, and it's a great place to do so . You can order your food whenever your want, however fast you want, and with minimal interuptions so you & your family and/or friends can chat away. Very pleasant experience.

“Good food but needs coordination”
Reviewed March 20, 2013

My wife and I tried this on the recommendations on Tripadvisor. Nice place in an upscale strip center. Warm welcome outside seating at bistro table. Ipad menu not good without familiarity, ie beef short ribs not in "Signature Meats" section, ribs listed under "Gluten Free", glitch.
We used the paper menu and started with a prosecco very nice on a warm evening. Tried the Chickpea Fries - very good with spicy hot aioli and the Nans Goat Cheese with olives, sundried tomatoes and roasted garlic - Very good, goat cheese was young and mild as was the garlic. My wife had the short ribs with polenta and I had the seared tuna sald Nicoise. Shor ribs and polenta very good small plate, Salade Nicoise was good: tuna not as flavorful as I like but the greens, eggs, and potatoes good.
Problem with the meal is the entrees, ribs and salad, came out before we were finished with our appetizers. So we had a table too small for the plates and really the worst was that we have my wife's ribs and polenta cold by the time she was ready to eat them.
They should have kept an eye out an no brought the entrees until we were through with the appetizer. We were not fast but not slow, there is no excuse for a place like this rushing the courses.
We like this pace very much and will go back but will alert the server we do not want to have courses on top of courses, this food should be savored not gulped down. Carmel Cafe, give you patrons time to enjoy the food.
Good wine selection with 3, 6 & 12 oz pour options.

“I am an i-pad and I will take your order”
Reviewed February 26, 2013

This is a great adult space that belies its location in a strip mall, a relatively quiet and dark wine bar/tapas restaurant where menus are delivered to the table on an i-pad. Wait staff was affable and willing to have us do as much or as little as we wanted with the technology. Food was better, healthier, and more appealing than most we've found in Florida, even in much more upscale places. It was recommended to us by a young realtor who grew up in the area but travels internationally. Prices and portion sizes vary so one can spend as little (or as much) as one pleases. If one has had enough of coastal dining "fried and outside," this is a great alternative!!
