“Average food, festive atmosphere”
Reviewed January 6, 2014

Restaurant is a little out of the way, but not a big deal. Very casual. Parking not so great. Not a good neighborhood. Very good service. I thought the food was average. I will probably go back and order something else. I would not say that this place is "very inexpensive", but the prices did not offend me. Would not bring small children. My shrimp and grits bowl was too "soupie" and did not have a lot of taste.Beer was cold. Good place to hang out with friends.

“A pleasant oasis”
Reviewed December 2, 2013

I read two reviews of this restaurant in an out of the way area. Finally decided to try it with two other couples. The food was absolutely delicious. What a wonderful surprise in such a strange area so close to home! The outdoor patio appeared to be the place to be althoguh we were seated inside where the no smoking rule was in effect. The waiter was charming and related much of the history of the place.

This is a definate must go to place for a reasonably priced meal.

“Bad neighborhood; good food”
Reviewed November 12, 2013

Yes, it is hard to find this old house on the Pinellas Trail north of downtown Clearwater. Parking is very limited too. The dining areas include a small room inside, a large patio with umbrella tables, a semi-enclosed bar area, and another picnic table area out back. It is ultra-casual, but prices are about $15 per entrée and $8 for appetizers; however, the portions are large and tasty.
They have daily specials as well as extensive menu. They have good shrimp and cheese grits, burgers, chicken, southern favorites, and some delicious bourbon bread pudding.
Service is friendly. They have music every night outside in the open air section. There was a good crowd arriving around 6:30pm. Owner, Nancy, is well-known for her catering at the Jazz Festival each year; and her specials are well prepared.
Full bar available.

“A Dive....But what a great dive it is!”
Reviewed November 8, 2013

Been wanting to try this place for a year, but kept putting it off. Boy was that a mistake. We shared the steamed calms in a spicy diablo sauce with their garlic bread. It was just simply amazing. Next time I will get my own order, they are just too good to share. Then tried their Beef Martini sandwich. It was probably the best steak sandwich I have ever had. Nancy stopped by the table and we let her know that she now has two new "regular" customers. Don't let the neighborhood or the outside fool you, this place really is a gem. Super clean, friendly staff and a very relaxing atmosphere. Make sure you have plenty of time to enjoy your meal and cold beer, because this isn't a "fast food" place. Each meal is made to order and you can tell it at first bite!
