We went on a 6 hour fishing trip with Above Average from Clearwater in Aug 2012 - being myself, my husband, my (quite old!) dad, my two sons (chalk and cheese!). Although Captain Richard is not the most talkative of people, he was very pleasant, polite and made sure we found some fish. We wanted to catch fish we could eat, and we caught spanish mackeral and baraccuda (excuse spellings if they are wrong), and we threw back some others that were not edible - and my son also caught three fish already bitten in half!! Although there was a threat of a storm, Captain Richard kept a close eye on the weather, checked if we minded getting wet (no) and made sure we got out full time out on the water - in the end we didn't get wet anyway. There is a toilet (head?) on the boat - just a warning if you are not that agile, it is a steep step down and back up again. We had photos taken of out catch, Captain Richard cleaned the fish for us - that's an experience to watch in itself - and then packed it up in loads of ice for us. we all enjoyed the day, which says something as my sons do not usually enjoy the same things. There are two "fishing chairs" but there are other bench type seats to sit on, and we had three rods going which I thought at the start was a bit off as there were five of us, but obviously they know from experience that sometimes you don't want to fish but sit and enjoy being on the sea. I would recommend a trip with Above Average - if you have any questions Helen is extremely friendly and helpful - make sure you take a cooler (we got a $2.99 one from Walmart!) to take you catch home in - or you could take it over the road to Crabby Bills for them to cook it.
