“great location, good value, but its a motel”
Reviewed July 29, 2012

This hotel (really a MOTEL) had great access to the beach and restaurants (try Britt's for breakfast and dinner) only a few minutes walk across the main road. It's location was its best feature and the free parking essential in this area. It is clearly an older motel which has had some upgrades, but their sign would lead you to believe that they were more substantial. We found them to be mostly cosmetic. The smallish bathrooms had some newer fixtures put in (sink, toilet), except the older original tub didn't drain in our room and there was mold on the bathroom window and cracked towel racks. The kitchen countertop had been replaced with new formica and cabinets appeared new or painted. Furniture was very very basic, however, the pictures they show online accurately depict what you get your room, so you know exactly what you are paying for. Drawback...no clock or alarm for those of us that didn't bring one and nothing to put ice in. In our two room "suite" there were two airconditioners, but you have to be a giant to get to the thermal controls as they are mounted close to the sealing. They are also a bit on the loud side. Full size fridge and microwave comes in handy but places to buy groceries, not so handy. Still, compared to prices in the surrounding hotels (many of which didn't look much better), this was good value. Asked for and received a quiet King Suite room upstairs. Sitting area is quite spacious and in general would be a great bargain for families who need the space. The staff working the day we were there couldn't give me directions to our next destination in town nor recommend anything but did indicate that they were new, apologized and gave out "maps" with advertiser's information. Ice machine and single machines for laundry get locked at certain hours and are buried in a wood shed in the back so make sure you know the hours if you need them. Consider this a utilitarian value hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for a "quiet" room if you are a light sleeper. we got an upstairs end unit (203) which...

To start with the parking is not close to the rooms. Our rooms view was a wall. The door was hard to shut. The window would not shut. So we got to hear everyone passing by talking till 2am. Not to mention the smell of people sitting right under our window smoking. The shower and bathroom walls had mold on them. The WIFI didn't work. Perhaps the room we stayed in is the only one that is in need of so much repair. Still it was a waste of money. Now with all that said, the manager was very nice and the location is perfect for walking to Pier 60 , little shops and places to eat.

I've never written a review before but here it goes.We stayed in room 211. We didn’t get there until midnight and Richard made sure that he was up so that we can check in without any problems. This is a neat little place. It's clean, peaceful, management is really nice, and we enjoyed ourselves. It is really cheap compared to other hotels in the area, and that gave us extra money to spend on other things. Richard and his wife were great!! They were always around to help out, they kept the property nice and clean. They will do anything for you and get you anything you ask for. I'm pretty sure that if we go to Clearwater Beach again, this will be the place where we will stay at. Thanks for everything! It was a great vacation :)

It is a rare thing to go to a hotel and have such personal attention as we did at this hotel. Richard and Mary went above and beyond to provide for my family. I will never stay at another hotel when I am in Clearwater. The rooms are nice and the rates are great!! It is a quaint hotel that has easy accessibility to all the beach attractions. Looking forward to another stay in July 2012. Many thanks to Richard and his wife!!!

Room Tip: Great prices and easy access to local attractions

I was a bit nervous when we approached this small older motel a block off the beach and the office was locked mid-day and I called and got an answering machine that said they don't return messages until after 10 pm. We had a reservation and apparently no way to check in! But the manager soon appeared and we realized that this is basically a one-man operation! Richard is all over the property tending plants, fixing things, assisting guests. He is very warm and welcoming and helpful, friendly and a really nice guy. The pool and grounds and room were all pristine clean. The room was a little small and laid out inconveniently, and it faced the street so was noisy until quite late. But the bed was comfortable and extra towels were available when we needed them. The room was "dated," (flooring, tiles, bathroom fixtures) but everything was in excellent condition and state of repair. We had a microwave and full refrigerator, but no utensils or other kitchen stuff. Parking is on the side, adjacent to the motel, and a one block straight shot to the beach. We left our beach stuff in the car and just picked it up to go to the beach each day. Richard recommended some good restaurants in various price ranges. Don't look for luxury or amenities like shampoo, flat screen TV, robes or even a phone, but for clean and comfortable place to bunk, this is great value for Clearwater Beach and we'd definitely recommend it and stay there again.

Room Tip: Every room is different, but if you can get the configuration you want away from the street, it'...

We are not first time visitors to this hotel. My wife and I have been coming here for years, alone and with our kids. This particular trip was a week stay for our infant son's funeral and memorial. Richard and Mary didnt treat us like the average visitors. They treated us like family and went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed ( extra bbq grill, smores stuff, handmade fruit creation.) The rooms are always great and the pool is refreshing. We hold a special place in our hearts for this hotel and Richard and Mary and we WILL always keep coming back!!! Thank you. Love, The Yeager Family

We needed something cheap and well located. The Hotel is clean and the stuff is super friendly.

Do not expect a 5 star hotel of course. Is a modest Motel.

My experience was good, and the price compared to other hotels around great.

We will repeat without hesitate unless I get rich before that!

regards
