We (myself, husband, teenage daughter and son) stayed during the busy Easter week. Like other reviews, we found the location good for our days of exploring (from Honeymoon Beach to Pass-a-Grille), the beach across the street fine for a day (10 minute walk), hotel pool way too crowded with unruly children, suites were a bit small and dated, biggest room complaints were the bathroom door on a slider and very difficult to close and the sleeper sofa had springs poking through the thin mattress. We did request extra bedding which arrived quickly and made sleeping manageable. View of bay from balcony very nice. Staff nice and helpful. However one day at breakfast my waitress failed to put in my omlette order and then when it arrived after my family had long finished eating, it was made with burned bacon. The next day was better but getting refills on coffee, juice or water took way too long - it always seemed like they were short staffed for breakfast. Quite often the buffet would not be replenished in a timley fashion. I also found the way some of the breads were displayed were unsanitary - on pedestals, not covered in a high traffic area - more than once I saw crossiants hit the floor when someone brushed by with their elbow. Had our breakfast not been included with our room rate we would have eaten somewhere else after the first morning. Only one day did we eat lunch by the pool and it was a diaster, but no fault of the hard working staff - there just was not enough of them. Our sweet waitress told us food was taking 45 minutes and it took right at an hour - we enjoyed the view and waited patiently while we saw many rude guests coming unglued over lack of service. The weird thing was the GM visiting with a table of guests - not for a few minutes but the entire time we were there he stood at their table and talked (over an hour) while his staff was obvioulsy frazzled directly behind him and needing an extra hand. Even I helped clean off our table after eating. Clearly lack of team work and did not go unnoticed by many guests and resort staff. Food was fine. We love Marriott and vacation almost exclusively within their hotel chain and are also Marriott timeshare owners - we would return to the hotel but not during spring break season. We had great meals at Columbias, Caesar's on the Beach, Casa Tina in Dunedin, St.Pete Brasserie in downtown, wonderful grouper sandwich at Hurricane House in Pass-a-Grille, and Frenchie's Rockaway Grill (loud place with good food). For any fitness folks, a nice one hour walk is from the hotel, over the bridge to the main beach in Clearwater - nice restrooms and benches for a break but no water fountain, it's 30 minutes in each direction. Take some $$ and have an egg white omlette at IHOP next to the Holiday Inn & Suites. You really cannot go wrong with this part of Florida!
