We stayed here only one night and we were really pleased. They got all of our requests right. We were treated to a little "welcome" gift because of our Silver status. Room was nice and both of us felt like we could stay here for an extended period of time. Living room had a small fridge, microwave, coffee maker, and sink as well as a sofa and TV. Nice views of the bay. Turn down service was nice...especially the new towels.

We had trouble with getting our boarding passes to print and the front desk was great and printed them out for us. Staff all over hotel was nice and smiled and spoke.

Dinner was pricey...but I thought breakfast was very reasonable. Good buffet with eggs to order...lots of very good fruit and the usual breakfast fare. Waitstaff was very attentive at both dinner and breakfast.

Would definately stay here again.

We stayed here Nov. 26, 2007 for about 4 days and it was awesome! First of all, on the reservation comments we noted that we were going there for our honeymoon. Upon arrival we were greeted and the staff (who I guess read this note) and congratulated us and gave us a "welcome gift"... very nice :)

The lobby was very nice, very elegant and clean, they had a beautifuly christmas tree in the middle of the lobby.

Our room was on the 8th floor; we loved the view of the bay and the ocean. We found the room to the big and spacious for 2 people. We had no problems with the smells that other people encountered. We did find the room a little humid, but is mostly because of all the water around the hotel, is not because there's something wrong with the hotel (at least I dont think so).

The day after check in, we went out, and upon walking into the room we found a bottle of champagne and chocolate covered strawberries... these were compliments of the hotel! We were thrilled!

On our last night there we had dinner at their restaurant and we loved it! the food was so so good! (a little pricey) but we'll worth it!

The hotel is close to Clearwater, St. Petterburg and Tampa, close to everything but at the same time you're away from the noise and craziness of a city.

I cannot say enough about the staff! They were amazing! treated us so so well. We chatted with the bellman's & valet people a couple of times and they were great, gave us suggestions of things to do and places to visit.

Everybody in the hotel was so nice. I highly recomend this hotel!

  • Disliked — I loved it all. no complains, not one!

I stayed at the hotel the first several days of November. I usually stay at the Sheraton across the street, but reservation issues led me the the Marriott. My room was on the third floor.

Check is was easy, the staff was friendly and helpful. I was suprised at the size of the room, bigger than expected. Yes the hotel is not on the gulf, but has a great view of Clearwater harbor and had some great sunrises.

The room was clean, the bed was comfortable. There were a few minor details and repairs that could/need to be done, but nothing that made the room inadequate.

Some reviews speak of a smell, I think every room in Flordia has a smell... due to the ocean air... just my opinion!!

I did not eat at the hotel resturant. There is a great little place down the boardwalk called the Backwaters, good food, good service and reasonable prices.

Overall, my stay was good. I will most likely stay there again next November.

We checked in Nov 5th and like the last review, almost immediately upon entering our room noticed a terrible odor. We were also on the 7th floor. I thought it could have been mold/mildew also. The tub did have some mildew on the tiles. The room was not what I expected at all. The couch looked like it was about 10 years old, the bathroom was horrible. Looked nice at 1st until you noticed that the mirror was hanging off the wall, the vanity lights were completely crooked, mildew in tub, and the sink was filthy. Ew. Also, in the bedroom noticed the black smoke/soot marks from the air vent. The bar was nice, food was overpriced. The view was great, the bed was comfortable but would not stay here again. Also, hotel is on the bay side- across the street on the beach is the Sheraton.

My husband and I were initially excited about our planned six night stay at this Hotel. Our assigned room was on the 7th floor and almost immediately we noticed an unplesant odor in our room. The closet transferred this terrible odor to most of our clothing. Since our departure we have since realized that the odor we were most likely smelling was mold/mildew
The overall room size was small and the bathroom TINY to say the least and mildew was present on the tiling. The couch in the living area was worn and faded, carpets were old and stained. Our suite had a king bed and the linens and mattress were very comfortable. The ceiling of our bedroom was stained black with soot and dust which appeared to eminate from the ventilation duct located nearby. Enjoyed wonderful maid service (tipped her $20.00 on the first day) until the last day (she was off) when our room was not cleaned until after 5pm. The pool area was very clean and spacious children of other guests seemed to be having a ball!, Hot tub on the other hand was old, small and outdated. We ordered room service the night of our arrival and the food was mediocre at best and arrived cold.
The lobby staff posted our room payment to another account and this entire fiasco took one hour and several telephone calls from our home to rectify. The clerk that approached us with this concern was less than apologetic for her rude behavior/attitude esspecially when it was "Marriotts Error". Overall the location and senic views were nice. We found many places to visit and enjoyed the Tampa/Clearwater area. However we will not be returning to this Hotel.

This was our third time staying at this location. The previous two times it was a Radisson. Now that Marriott has taken it over, there have been many improvements. The lobby and pool areas look much more elegant. Free water, refrigerators, great bedding, and the suites are large. However, the rooms themselves need a facelift. I'm not sure how they would do this since it's all open and the dampness from the sea air can't be avoided. But anyway, they need to rip up all the carpet, repaint or wallpaper the rooms, and gut the bathrooms. Then this would be a 5-Star resort. The staff was exceptional and worthy of the Marriott name, but unfortunately the rooms were not. We went over Labor Day weekend and the pool was a mob scene. Local college/high school kids "dropped in" and were not noticed by the staff (maybe their friends?). So we went early to the pool and hit the beach by 2pm to avoid the crowd at the pool. Plenty of cool activities for kids by the pool though. They had Bingo, Water Basketball & Volleyball, and "Dive In" movies to watch at night. Only ate at the pool bar, but the food and drinks were very affordable and they gave you good value for your $. Local restaurants that stood out were Frenchy's Saltwater Cafe, Cesare's On the Beach, and the Island Way Grill.

Couldn't fault the week we had here, a little on the expensive side after being on I drive but you pay for what you get, none of the "damp" or musty smells I read before going, room was superb, clean, fresh & large with good views over the inland water way, beach across the road within easy walking, eating out in the evening is a bit limited, but make sure you meet "Pukkalips" the talking parrot on the boadwalk outside the jewellers, a great hotel
