Maybe a couple of miles from the beach but worth the savings compared to hotels on the shore. Our room on the fifth floor was clean and good sized. The staff was helpful with directions (head west ;) ) and suggestion for dinner. Fair amount of drawer space. Especially handy in the bathroom. Rooms equiped with kitchen and all things needed to prepare your own meals. A "good to know and remeber". Included breakfast was just okay but coffee was good. Will definitely consider booking here again for a future trip.

We had to move our handicapped location( only room left 0n check in) due to noise from below from to exit & public bathrooms. (Room 201). Staff was responsive, courteous & friendly in accommodating the change. Rooms need to be refurnished. Couch is so low for adults it borders on being a futon. TV Remotes are unresponsive. General layout fails to be comfortable. I'm sure it provides excellent accommodations for a large family rooming together at very reasonable prices. Our new room (602) had the same layout issues. It was quite & clean. Again, The staff could not have been more accommodating and responsive.

Room Tip: Don't stay in handicapped room 201

Stayed for two nights. Stay was nice. Area located is a little sketchy. Furniture & rugs could use some help. Felt safe, clean, breakfast was nicely done. Nothing is w/in walking distance. It was worth the price difference from staying right on the beach, but leave early on the wkend to find a parking place.

I have nothing but good to say about this hotel. It is very clean, the staff is wonderful, the rooms are fantastic. Unfortunately it is very pricey, but I have no regrets about spending the extra money. I would hesitate to stay anywhere else while in the area because this was such a wonderful place.

We just returned from our stay at the Residence Inn Clearwater (Downtown). The hotel was clean and the staff was very accommodating… even letting me use their office PC to print some tickets for the Tamp Bay Lightnings game. Everyone one of the staff was friendly and eager to please. More importantly the hotel and room were clean and well maintained. I was very pleased with this hotel and would stay there again without hesitation.

This is your typical Marriott Residence Inn, which is to say it is an excellent hotel. If you are looking for a lot of action, noise, the beach, the bars, etc....this is not the place for you. But if you are looking for a nice hotel, extremely clean, very convenient, with free breakfast, this is the place for you. The hotel sits on the main drag into Clearwater Beach. It's close to the beaches, but, on a Saturday at least, that could take you 30 minutes to get there. Any other day...5 minutes. We were down for Phillies spring training and it was a 5 minute ride to the stadium. We saw some of the Philadelphia broadcasters at the hotel so that should give you an idea that this is a quality place. The area the hotel sits is not scenic....it's basically downtown. But...there were not rowdy revelers, it was nice and quite and a great place to stay

Thank you very much for your descriptive feedback regarding our location and hotel. Our guests find that our location is ideal to reach many activities with just a short drive no matter what direction they are heading. Spring training is always a fun time of year; our guests get to enjoy the many people they meet during their visit. It can get rather hectic during this time of year with traffic but I was happy to read you had no problems getting where you needed to go. Thank you again for posting a comment on line about our hotel.

We are just back from a 6 day stay during March break and really liked this new/modern hotel. It was pricey, but that was the Spring Break adjustment and considering the extra value for the included daily breakfast our family of four was well served. The hotel was full and several lacrosse teams were present and that made breakfast quite busy but the kitchen staff did a great job. In fact, there is a large Weber BBQ on site you can use and that was excellent for grilling, which we used several times and were surprised no one else did! A big selling point they should advertise more. The staff also kindly heated up some left over pizza for us in their commercial kitchen and were always accomodating so that was just great. However, the lack of an oven in our suite was dissapointing as the listed 'full' kitchen was a big draw and we only had a stove-top element in our suite = not good. But the microwave, fridge and toaster were all put to use albeit I don't know why one would need a dishwasher for so few plates! We found the hotel to be well kept and the front desk staff really knowledgeable. Anything we rang for was delivered promptly (towels, pillows, etc). Two computers and a printer on-site to check in for your flights or generally surf the net and despite a full hotel we found access to them easily and readily. There is free wi-fi on the whole property and that was a real plus. I fully agree with other writers that the outoor pool was freezing and though the weather (mid 60's cool snap!) could have influenced that I am wondering about there being a pool heater or not...first day we tried to go in it was WAY too cold and told this to the staff and they advised something was amiss and would work on it...it was warmer the NEXT day but only marginally and may have been a by-product of a sunny and more temperate day. All in all, they MUST put in a better heater as my poor kids, even with thick Canadian winter skin, only managed to use the pool once as the third time we tried it was back to freezing = not good. The hotel was only 15-20 minutes from the Blue Jays Spring Training site in Dunedin and likely closer to the Phillies stadium which is in Clearwater itself. 45 minutes from Bradenton where the Pirates are. Traffic in Tampa/Clearwater in March break is brutal however, especially with lots of construction on/around Hwy 19. Heading in (westbound) from the Tampa airport on 60 was awful...about 1 hour so don't trust your Google map estimate(s). 60 & 19 where major shopping (** a good Target) is located was simply gridlock - though the staff admitted that March-April generally are the busiest months in this part of Florida. Clearwater beach was only about 15 minutes, but had to be driven...not sure why others report longer commutes. The property was safe, secure and welcoming and definitely felt new. It was a quiet place to sleep and the neighbourhood generally well kept. A couple down-trodden streets nearby but the Pinellas running trail was close too. Lastly, the room...we had a King bed and that was great but this is open-concept...the pull-out couch is RIGHT THERE so if you want privacy get a 2 room suite. The bath/toilet are in a separate locked area but NOT the bed-room so not sure what another writer was suggesting. Furnishings were new and tidy and despite no in-room safe all our possessions/gifts were just fine all week with daily linen changings. If we are back in this area we will return...but hopefully in a quieter/warmer time of the year! Recommended.

Room Tip: Try and get a 2 room suite if staying with young kids
