The Clearwater Marine Aquarium was very nice. The staff was friendly. The facilities looked to be in a state of renovation, which was nice. The staff was knowledgable and the displays were informative, but it would be nice to see more that is not necessarilly associated with Winter or the movie. We would go back.

I am sure there are many people that loved the poor tailless dolphin. What I am going to write will offend some.
As Aquariums go there is little to like here. There are few displays and what they do have are poor examples of marine life. I watched in disbelief as the star of "A Dolphins Tale" was paraded out before crowds of loving children. We watched from the viewing windows in the tank, so we had a good view of the behavior of the poor animal. Any adult that watched the show from that perspective could clearly see the poor animal was in extreme discomfort. It did not use the artificial tale crafted for it. It simply hung down in the water. I saw the show as exploitation taken to an extreme. They have a pair of otters on display one with a broken back and it's back legs do not work. The cost for a family would have been around $50 not counting any extras they sold you. The sad part is that the displays do not show the crowds of children anything about marine life in it's natural habitat. The animals are sick or have been badly injured and are there for rehab. or as permanent residents because they no longer can survive on there own.
Take you children to any number of better aquariums in Florida. Do not fall for the "Dolphins Tale" myth. This is plain and simple exploitation of poor creatures for your vacation dollars.
I would give a pros and cons but there are no pros.

This place is definitely NOT worth the cost. Maybe our problem was we paid for the general admission only and not any of the extras, which seemed a bit lame anyway. There is very little to see and do, other than the giant gift shop you are forced to walk through at the entrance. We did pet a few stingrays, and saw a few brief dolphin jumps. We watched the sea turtles being fed and watched the nurse sharks sleep. Seriously, that is it. Way too hyped up and very disappointing upon arrival.

We decided to visit the aquarium since the weather in Clearwater wasn't that great for the beach. The aquarium is not your regular aquarium, is more like an educational aquarium for children. I did enjoy seeing the dolphins, Hope and Winter, and touch the stingray. After the aquarium we took a boat to see some of the props from the movie "A dolphin tale", which was included in the entrance fee.

Rather have done it on a weekday. But the kids love it. 8, 6 and 4. We were at the downstairs viewing area watching the dolphins when Winter glanced our way....I flipped my hand back and forth in front of the window. She came right over to the window and inspected all of us.
