“Wonderful, educational, friendly!!!”
Reviewed March 5, 2013

We just got back home to Ky. after our visit to CMA, and we LOVED it!!! It was a surprise trip for our two boys who loved the movie about Winter and love all things dealing with marine life!! Winter was definitely a highlight, but there were many other wonderful animals to see and things to do and learn about!!! We took the behind the scenes tour, and we all enjoyed seeing how thecl staff carries out the facilities mission each day : ) We also went on the Sealife Safari and tvatvwas WONDERFUL!!! The marine scientists were so friendly and it was very educational. Our oldest wants to be a marinebiologist and it inspired him even more!! Michael White was a wonderful guide and was so friendly and genuine with everyone on board. We did the photo with Hope and got a lovely memory to bring home. All through the visit we were approached with things like Winters prosthetic, a sea turtle shell, and other things for our kids to see and learn about. We highly recommend!!! A wonderful place, with wonderful staff, doing wonderful things!!

“Sea Turtles are my Favorite”
Reviewed March 4, 2013

It was fun seeing Winter the famous dolphin and all the other amazing sea animals that are there for rehabilitation. Also a great learning experience and greater understanding of the safety and environment for these wonderful creatures.

“Great cause, Amazing Animals”
Reviewed March 4, 2013 via mobile

I love sea turtles, so perhaps my review is slightly biased as this place is full of them. Don't go expecting a huge city aquarium. This is a smaller animal rehabilitation facility who seem to care about their animals. While the Dolphin Tale movie has dramatically increased interest and crowds, expansions are already being built with their new found fame. Educators are almost always giving presentations on the various animals. If you are just interested in dolphins, you'll be disappointed. If you really love marine animals of all types, it's a treasure.

It was amazing to see the dolphins up close and see what the Aquarium is doing to break awareness of issues encountered by marine life! A definite place to see if in the area!

“Small but Interesting”
Reviewed March 4, 2013

If you've seen A Dolphin Tale you've seen most of the Clearwater Marine Aquarium already. It's not very big, and they don't have tons of animals. BUT the staff is knowledgeable, the volunteers are kind, and the shows are educational and fun. Definitely look at the schedule when you arrive and map out which shows/talks you want to hear. Nicholas - their newest dolphin - is young and energetic and puts on the most active show. Winter is of course fun to see, and Panama also joins in on some of Winter's shows and is a bit more active. We actually saw two of Winter's shows, and they were both different, with different trainers. It's fascinating to watch the interactions, and I'm glad we stuck around and caught a second show. You could easily make it through the whole aquarium in maybe 90 minutes, but could spend longer as well.

We did the combination with the aquarium admission and the Sea Life Safari Boat Trip. For kids 3+ I highly recommend the boat trip. You ride out into the intercoastal with one of their staff marine specialists on board. They drop a trawl net for the purpose of documenting sea life populations. Then the boat shores for a few minutes on an island where you can pick up shells (this gives them a chance to finish their inventory of the wildlife found in the trawl net). On the way back to the aquarium they walk around the boat with each unique species in a small container so everyone can see them while the marine specialist tells you about the animal. Fun and educational. Be aware that the breeze on the boat makes it feel colder - so bundle up if need be.

The admission also includes a free ferry boat ride or shuttle to "Winter's Dolphin Tale Adventures" which we did not even manage to fit into the day. It's supposed to be more movie based - sets from the movie, a hurricane simulator, etc.

Also, a tip, we went to the Original Boardwalk Grill & Sports Bar for lunch. It's an easy walk and good bar type food.
