“Nice Place to Visit”
Reviewed November 10, 2012

This is a nice place to visit if you have the time. This is where they filmed the movie "Winter". Before "Winter" this place was on the way out, it was run-down and a boring & sad place to visit, but it has turned around quite a bit since the movie. Discount coupons are available at neighboring hotels. Kids will enjoy it.

“Deserves your support”

These guys are doing some fantastic work. The film has obviously increased CMA's popularity and they are now fundraising to rebuild. Your entrance fee will help them do this and continue their good work. Winter is an inspiration and the talks given are very informative. Make sure you visit the second location and see a bit more about the making of the movie. The only down side was the cafe offering was poor. The gift shop on the other hand was excellent.

“Wonderful aquarium and educational!”
Reviewed November 7, 2012

This was one of our favorite places from our week in Florida (which included Orlando and Cape Canaveral!). The aquarium is very affordable at about $20 a ticket for adults. Seaworld is about $80! There are lots of exhibits that let you get pretty close to the animals. All the staff were incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. This is a working marine hospital so they have some animals that can't be released as well as ones they are rehabbing and preparing to release. If you are coming with kids I would recommend checking out the website for additional packages like getting a photo op with the dolphins. Definitely arrive early in the day because they are constantly doing feeding and training events with the animals throughout the day. They do put Winter's tail on and have her work with it for a while. The aquarium is also home to otters, several kind of sea turtles, pelicans, sharks, fish, etc. There are several levels with different exhibits, but they seemed to be pretty accessible for people in wheelchairs or with mobility issues. Bring your camera! They do have a concession stand with the usual hot dogs, pretzels, and sodas to hold you over. However, the aquarium is close to the beach and there are many restaurants in the area. I really enjoyed the fact that this was educational and loved how excited all of the kids seemed to be to interact with the animals! I would come back in a heartbeat!

“Come and see the real Winter the dolphin!”
Reviewed November 7, 2012 via mobile

Went to Florida for spring break with family. Penciled in trip across the state to Clearwater with one intention. See Winter the dolphin. We were not disappointed, great family experience. It was almost like you were walking through the movie set, everything was almost exactly like the movie.

The one thing that gets lost here is that this is an actual working hospital with many injured sea animals, not just Winter. All of the animals seemed to have great back stories and it was amazing the care that is being given to them by their staff including all of their volunteers.

Tip, get there early before the crowds show up, then your kids can see everything up close and let them explore everything. The whole experience was awesome and Winter knows she is the star of the show. One of the best family experiences we have had bar none. Will visit again as they are growing and expanding the aquarium and would like to see Winter again as she gets older.
