We stayed here for one night on 2/28/10. Checking in, there was a wedding going on & the lobby was very noisy. Our room was on the 6th floor. It was clean and the beds were comfortable. The balcony view was really nice. However the rooms do need updating. For a one night stay it was fine though. Internet access was good. There is an Italian/pizza restaurant right across the street & the food there was excellent. Also a Surf Shop souvineer store across the street which was very handy. I would have liked to see an indoor pool & hot tub since it can be cold in the winter months in Florida.

We stayed at this hotel for 1 week in October of 2009. We found it on the internet and were a little nervous as the pictures do not do this place justice. We thought we would give it a shot as the price was excellent.

With a little apprehension, we opened the door to our room. We were pleasantly surprised. We found the room to be extremely clean, smelled fresh and it looked like it was just re-decorated.

We had 2 dissapointments, one was the hallways, as mentioned in other reviews, were very dated and seemed dirty. The other was the resort fee added to our bill. Having said that, we were extremly satisfied as the value in this hotel was fantastic. The pool and beach area were lovely. The staff were very friendly and accomodating.

Upon our checkout, we reserved the same week for 2010!! We'll see you in October Sea Wake! Thanks for a great holiday.

The location was the best part of this property. My room smelled mildey. It became apparent why when I turned on the air conditioner/heater. Little black balls of dirt were constantly blowing out onto the floor. I woke up at night sneezing and felt like I had something dirty in my nose and throat. My in-laws stayed in a room also and had a worm with legs crawl across their bed. The receptionist offered no room change or discount. The restaraunt on site was closed for supper and the breakfast and lunch was not impressive and they added an 18% gratuity to the check, regardless of how many people where on the check. One of two elevators broke down. It needs to be updated and brought into this century. The location was perfect for shopping and walking to Pier 60.

One of many hotels in the area stuck in the dark ages, small room, small tv, poor unusable wifi, a thieving resort fee it was a struggle to reach 3 stars. However it was nice and quiet, the beach was great, the staff were friendly, parking was easy and the location is excellent. All of Clearwater Beach hotels are a ripoff this is just a bit less of a ripoff. The hotel cries out for a total refurb.

Extended family traveled to Clearwater Beach, and most stayed at the Hilton 1 mile north. That property was quite clean, with newer fixtures and in good repair. We stayed at the Sea Wake. The outside and lobby area was slightly above average, but the first room they put us in on the 4th floor made us pinch our noses as we stepped into it. No ventilation caused a musty, almost "abandoned building" smell, and the air conditioner unit near the window was better at making noise than cooling. Immediately asked for another room, and was given a key to a room on the 6th floor. A vast improvement over the 1st room - no smell, cooled well, the carpet wasn't as grungy. Don't know why they even put us in that first room in the first place when nicer rooms were available (there was plenty of vacancy). When the elevators, which were noisy and rickety, opened to the 2nd floor, a horrible odor entered. The pool wasn't heated and there was nothing to do at the property. We always went to the Hilton where there was table tennis, hot tub, heated pool, workout room, volleyball, poolside food and drink, etc. The price difference between the 2 properties was about $15 to $20 a day for each party staying at this BW Sea Wake Resort (2 parties sharing a room with 2 queen beds). They also tack on a $12 /day resort fee at the Sea Wake, so add that to your daily room rate for the true cost. The Hilton does not do this (obviously built-in to current charges). The TV didn't work right in our room, and the wi-fi didn't work at all on the middle day of our 3 day stay. Hotel rooms need a complete upgrade, new carpets, and better cooling units. Cannot understand how both BW and Hilton rank as 3 star properties! If Hilton is 3, BW is definitely a low 2.

We traveled to Clearwater Beach on a spur of the moment mini vacation and couldn't find a place to stay. At first we didn't notice the hotel because there is construction that prevents you from going all the way down Gulf without taking a detour. After looking on the web using our phone we called the Best Western and they were able to book us a city view room for $100 which was just ok (it was 7pm when we made the reservation too). When we showed up a few minutes later while checking in they went ahead and gave us an ocean view on the 5th floor for $10 more!!!! They were very friendly and made sure we were comfortable. The hallways were extremely outdated and creepy but the inside of the rooms were very cute and clean with a beach cottage vibe. The views were absolutely amazing with shell island right in front of us. The tiki bar and outside area are very nice too with live music playing which is great for dancing and having fun. The beach area in front of the hotel was nice and not crowded at all. There is construction to the road right outside of the hotel but that didn't seem to get in the way like we expected. Really the only negative was the parking lot being too small so we had to circle around until somebody left. It is very close to everything and right across from a Walgreen's which has a liquor store as well. All in all, we were very pleased with this hotel and plan on using the beach and hotel for our wedding next year!!
