Our daughter’s wedding at the Wyndham will always be a wonderful memory thanks to the staff who worked so hard to make everything just right! We had a small group of about 15 who stayed at the Wyndham for the wedding on their beach, and we all felt that the staff and service were terrific! Our deepest gratitude to Lauren, Dan, and Rob (and many others whose names have now escaped me!) who gave 110% during the days that we stayed there! Lauren had just begun in her new position and had to get up to speed quickly to help us, but she was everything she needed to be and more - gracious, efficient, and patient! She was an excellent choice for her position at the Wyndham! Dan was simply amazing! We couldn’t believe how many things he did and how well he did them all! From serving at our reception dinner to arranging the flowers for the centerpiece to making sure everyone was having a good time and was comfortable - he was simply terrific - gracious, energetic, creative, and so delightful to work with! The reception dinner was created by Marco, and it was delicious! We asked for fresh grouper and a vegetarian option and both were so good! We had a memorable day because of this team of people and WITH this team of people! Many thanks to Rob, too, and the great folks who ran the bar, and the front desk team. By the time we left, they all felt like family. Honest.

The Wyndham is an older hotel that has been updated in very nice ways. But it is still an older hotel. That said, we wouldn’t hesitate to stay there again! It is so nice to have a private beach, too. If there is one constructive criticism we would make, we would suggest that the owner add to his staff! The staff are wonderful, but they each wear many, many hats! The person who cleans the beach may also be the person who serves you breakfast. These people work VERY HARD! And they do a VERY GOOD job! But if there were a few more folks working, some things might run a little more smoothly, like waiting to reserve a cabana because the person who is helping with that might also be making coffee at the bar in the lobby! Many, many thanks, again, to this hard-working, helpful, and delightful group of people. We’ll be back!

Room Tip: We loved being on the beach side. It costs a little more, but the view was worth it.

hotel was nice.. location was great walking distance for teenagers to get out and enjoy the pier and shops. Would like to give Kuddos to some great employees - Dan was great he was always willing to go above and beyond his job. Danae was also great she always had a smile on her face while working on the beach as a server. Both employees did an awesome job in making our stay so enjoyable.

This property appears to be in the process of being updated so be prepared for great and not so great things about it....

The parking lot is large enough to maneuver and was lit adaquetely. If you have a personal car and not a rental don't park under the palms as it is quite messy with all the stuff that falls from the palm and the animals in it.

The lobby is nice and well maintained as it has a small bar and the bar does serve or is set up like a small Starbucks location. There is a restaurant adjacent to the lobby but I did not see a soul in there during my stay.

The staff keep the lobby looking clean. There is a small cooler next to the front desk which contains all sorts of beverages for sale which is nice.

The front desk staff were hit or miss. The young ladies whom I dealt with were courteous and pleasant. The gentlemen who were at the front desk did not appear to be into their job and had no personality nor did they greet many of the guests as they walked by. Very disappointing.

The elevators appeared newer and were nice but they work very slow. They were clean and modern cosmetically.

The hallways had a musty odor and were very dated. They were kept clean but showed their age. There is a lack of natural light in the hallways as the only window is by the elevator in a central hallway and the glass was very dirty on many floors. The window tint or whatever has been affixed to the glass was peeling off and looked really bad.

The doors to the rooms were solid and appeared safe except for the steel plate affixed to the area by the handle. This cheapened the look and made me feel like reinforced doors were needed to prevent someone from kicking it in! Ofd thing to say I know but it just looked bad.

The floors in the room appeared new and were clean and free of stains or marks. The tile floor in the bathroom was old and grout missing which needed attention. Tile was ugly.

The tv was an LCD and was great. Good elevated placement.

The bed and bedding were amazing and super clean. The sheets and blankets were superb. Can't say enough how clean and amazing it was. Modern and beautiful headboard.

The furtiture in the room was in perfect condition.

The balcony had old AstroTurf style carpet and was horrible. Ugly and cheapened the look. Plastic wicker furniture was ok.

The toilet we had had a small leak in the tank but it was fine. Shower worked fine but mold and grout issues sadly. Needed updating bad.

No noise issues that I felt were worth noting from other guests on busy and slow days.

The pool is small and family's appear to enjoy it. Water seemed way too hot each day I took a dip. At least 90 degree water temp which was not acceptable.

Pool deck and walkways were dated and rust, mold, and wear was easily seen. Shower area from beach was poor and old and pitch patched and poor repairs appear to have been made to it.

The outdoor bar was nice but sparsely filled most of the days of my stay. Drinks were ok but liquor used was not top shelf which disappointed.

Food from bar was tasty but a tad over priced.

Waitstaff was thin and looked like one server at times handling things for the entire guest population.

Beach was nice and kept clean each day by staff removing debris and vegetation from shore. It is small but acceptable. Water clear and no viable hazards such as big rocks jelly fish rays or garbage.

Resort fee is the norm these days but for this property I wish I could have I was actually getting something for it.

Paying for a cabana on the beach has become the norm but it is really an umbrella and two cushioned adjustable chairs. Many were torn or the support structure was weathered or broken. Sad as you should get what u pay for and you don't get your money's worth. Save ur money and go across the street to Walgreens or surf style and buy your own to use at the beach.

The bay side of the building needs updating as the paint is peeking and tuck pointing and caulking needs to be done as building showing its age.

The "fitness" center stinks so do not count on getting much from it. Few machines and tight quarters.

Finally the entertainment on the bar deck are leaves so much to be desired. I know other reviewers have addressed it but the guy with the drums and the music must go. Bad music and too loud as well as just irritating to have to listen to. If the bar was crowded and place more updated mabey it would appear a better idea to have him there. Not the case now though. The old plastic fish bowl he leaves on the railing for tips stays empty for a reason. Please get rid of him as he does nothing to offer a resort atmosphere.

The cleaning ladies, last but not least, were hard working and did a great job. They greeted everyone they saw and my room was perfect each day after I returned from business. I saw many of them working so hard they were sweating in the hallway.

All in all this place needs to come along way and could be much better. I was unimpressed by it and hope the renovations continues.

Appearance wise it looks good when I first walked in the front lobby smelled of raid... Then came the ants they were all over the balcony and came in the door... All over our room and our things! Thank goodness that we stayed one night.. Paid extra for a corner room, don't waste your money! As we could not even use our balcony..

Overall I feel that this could be among the worse places to stay in Clearwater!!

Let me say It was not that impressive. We get there and they charge us $15.00 a day for resort fee on top of what we pre paid for. Still have no idea what that was for because they charge you $15 to $20 a day to use the so called cabanas on the beach.
My wife and I are all about keeping the money at the resort after all it is a buisness, But to charge you $9.00 for a weak frozen drink and $4.50 for a draft beer is a little much.
The Bartenders are very nice and the waitresses are awesome. The Front desk they are so so depends on who is there. We had to keep asking for towels because its a hit or miss if house keeping would come to our room.
Over all this place was a wast of money . Yes I know we are on vacation and should not worry about spending money, But for most people we get one away vacation a year that we save for. We should not have to worry about hidden charges and over priced drinks or pay for amenities.

Stayed 2 nights and was not impressed. Kinda pricey for what you get. Went down to the beach expecting to lay out and have a few drinks. NOT. You have to pay to rent the chairs and umbrella, very silly since you pay to have a private beach, not only that you can not bring a cooler or any of your own beverages on the beach.I did enjoy the servers at the bar, very very nice. Dennis the bell hop was awesome. Attempted to eat lunch outside, waited a very long time before we were waited on. Definately will not stay here again.
