Description: Seasonal Restaurant: October 15 - Mid April Annually Romantic tropical garden cafe with lots of charm. Beautiful, spacious outdoor setting, screened in by palm trees & flowers. The gentle breeze creates a Key West feel. Where traditional Cuban staples and fresh Gulf of Mexico seafood are transformed into flavorful caribbean-style dishes with Carlos’ stamp of passion on each one of them. Breakfast 7-11 daily Start your day with the smell of fresh ground Cuban coffee laced with silky warm whole milk. Every breakfast includes fresh ingredients and authentic Cuban flavors. You’ll savor the Havana Omelette, The “Rena,” Chorizo Egg Sandwich or Steak & Eggs. Like hot sauce on your eggs? Try Carlos’ Hot Sauce and buy a bottle to take home. Lunch 11-3 daily Sandwiches are served on our pressed Cuban bread, made from scratch in our kitchen. The black beans start as dry beans and are cooked with no pork fat; the fish is caught daily from our family’s boat. Sweet Plantains or Tostones are perfect for sharing. Enjoy a mouth-watering sandwich such as Dulce’s Cuban, Grouper or Vegetarian Sandwich. Dinner 5-8 Fridays & Saturdays *Paella by Reservation Relax with soft lighting, music and savor special dinner entreés. Carlos’ creativity with spices and mixing flavors has perfected dishes such as Carlos’ Shrimp Plate, Stone Crab Enchilado, and Paella to name a few. Authentic Cuban flavor with an island flare. Reservations required for Paella, made from scratch with fresh ingredients.

“Hidden Paradise”

We headed to the Everglades City Seafood Festival but ended eating in this peaceful place, a real paradise in such a tiny island. We were treated like royalty, yes, just like that. The owner (who is also the chef) brought the food to our table himself and fed us with a special seafood dish that tasted so good that we were glad for not eating at the festival. Unfortunately, they're open half year only so we are planing several visits before they close in April. I want to try the Cuban food too and enjoy the peaceful and friendly atmosphere that this place has to offer thanks to the perfect combination of excellent cooking skill and friendliness of the owners.

“Great food, rude service”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 14, 2013

We ate lunch here. The pork plate was absolutely fantastic. We did have to wait a while to be served and the waitress said that she did not have time to split our check. They were busy but I have not had that problem at much busier places. I rated this establishment average because although the food was excellent, dining in my opinion is largely about service.

“Loved it!”

This was our second annual visit to Havana Cafe. Both years the food was great and the service friendly and efficient. We have grouper on the lunch special which was fresh and perfectly prepared. The cost is easy to take and you are made to feel welcome. Keep it up Havana! Viva!

“Best fish cooking in a hundred miles”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 12, 2013

I go every Sunday lunchtime in my Morgan, they appreciate such things there.

The cooking is on display and the catch of the day is superlative every single time. Not expensive either.
They also serve cafe con leche of the kind I have not tasted since I was in Mallorca in the 1980s. You more or less have to eat outside under straw awnings on stone tables and stone chairs, but that is part of the charm. The service is not quick, so do not be in a hurry. It attracts a lot of Harley Davidson bikers and 60s style flower children, but all well behaved and interested in Morgans. This is not sophisticated dining but it is very good dining and the cooking is worth the effort to get there and it is a lovely drive back over the Causeway. Chill out with great grub.

I want these Cubans to succeed because they deserve it for what they offer. Estupendo y maravilloso! Le vayan.
