This was our second trip (the picture is actually from the 1st visit) and it was still such an incredible experience. This time there were new wolf and fox pups to hold. This is an education facility that allows a close and personal interaction with the wolves who live in a natural habitat including building their own dens. It is also important to note that there is major emphasis on rules for the safety of humans and the wildlife animals.

enjoyed our afternoon at the preserve...could've done w/o the politics, but I understand they are trying to educate, but it sounded a lot like they were just pushing their agenda as well...tour was a little long, and was delayed when they had to go kill a snake that was attacking the wolves...they didn't have to bring the snake back to the tour group to show off their kill (kinda ironic at an animal preserve if you ask me!) and then let kids touch it, when it wasn't completely dead yet...

Cuddling wolf cubs and sitting amongst the wolves was amazing. This is a must see experience and I would return if we are in this area again. The volunteers are wonderful!

Seacrest Wolf Preserve is an incredible experience. A non-profit run by donations and volunteers, Seacrest provides an educational and unique opportunity to interact with beautiful wolves in natural settings. Wolves, highly misunderstood animals, are the extremely intelligent ancestors of domestic dogs. These awesome creatures maintain pack hierarchy and behaviours in the pack enclosures at Seacrest and a dedicated group of volunteers share important information about behaviour and help break down common misconceptions about wolves. Misconceptions like wolves are decimating cattle heards. Of the 141,000 cattle who died last year before they were marched off to market for slaughter and human consumption, only 96 cows were killed by wolves. The rest sucummbed to disease, weather, and other factors. Over 40% of the wolf population in the lower 48 have now been killed thanks in part to government de-listing of wolves on the endangered species registry. Places like Seacrest may soon be the only way to see these magnificent animals. Guests here are given the chance to interact with the wolves in their own environment. An Alpha female in the first enclosure (all enclosures are 2 - 3 fenced acres with ponds) greeted me as a pack member by licking my chin and mouth (muzzle greeting) and laid on her back for a belly rub. This for me was worth the entire trip and something I will always remember and cherish. The preserve is easy to locate, accommodations nearby in Marianna are reasonably priced and admission of only $15 is far below what one would expect for an experience such as this. For an additional $5 guests can interact with small animals, skunks, a red fox, coyote, artic foxes and raccoons. Plan to spend several hours on the tour and playing with the small animals. Seacrest also has clean bathrooms, a concession stand serving hot dogs, hamburgers, cold drinks, chips and ice cream as well as picnic tables if you want to bring your own lunch. A gift shop offers upscale wolf and nature inspired gifts at reasonable prices. If you love animals and nature, please plan to make a trip to Seacrest Wolf Preserve for one of the most memorable, emotional and fascinating experiences you can have.
