The food is "made to order" so you can expect to wait for your meal... But it is absolutely worth the wait! My husband had the filet and sweet potato - it was melt in your mouth good!! I had the vegetarian lasagna and it had tons of flavor as well! Eat a snack before you go, expect to wait and enjoy the fun decor and trivia games provided. Best dinner we had on Cedar Key!!!

Carla was our server and was just as pleasant and efficient as could be. The chef was incredible! Our dinner was delicious and nicely presented. We enjoyed the ambience and unique decor. Great experience...don't be fooled by the building. We will add the Blue Desert Cafe to our places to stop on our next visit to Cedar Key.

Yes, it has a funky decor and the service was friendly but slow. Yes, there was a lazy dog lying in front of the restrooms. Yes, the food was very good and reasonable. All the great stuff everyone wrote about the Blue Desert is true, but somehow I couldn't get too excited about it. Maybe it was over-hyped and couldn't deliver on super high expectations. Maybe because it was your basic comfort food--burritos, pizza, pasta, garlic-buttery bruschetta. Maybe it was just a bit too funky, I don't know. You should eat there, as it is not your typical Florida seafood place, but don't plan to propose to your girlfriend or anything.

Best home cooked food and one of our favorite places to dine and bring family and friends. Had the Chicken Marsala, Filet Steak (special for the night), and Yellow Fin Tuna entrees with Brusetta appetizers. At Blue Desert you really do receive only the freshest, finest cuts of food along with the freshest herbs and spices. Nothing out of a can or box at this place. The chef/owner believes in eating healthy and you will never get french fries in her restaurant or fried foods. Only baked, broiled or grilled with a real potatoe and sour cream and butter or sweet potatoe and salad.Try the special dressing, it is like a seasame/ginger, incredible. She also makes her own desserts to temp you after your meal and it is hard to say no. I would have taken photos but my father in law was not willing to wait when he saw his delicious plate of food.
