For such a small community Cedar Key has a very interesting Historical Museum. The docents are knowledgeable and all very nice and helpful. This museum is run by all volunteers. At a reasonable cost of $2 per person it is a must visit, after all the money collected is used for building upkeep, supplies and all the other expenses to raise more funds for updates and new displays. It is nice to learn a little history of the place I am visiting or even living in.

They do ask for a donation, But its well worth it. Very interesting and a must see for history buff's, if you visit the key please stop by. They have another room out back with additional history facts about the area.

Be sure to drop by here to get a feel of Cedar Key's interesting past. The exhibits are well presented and one should not look for state-of-the-art displays in such a homely little place. The staff (volunteers) are helpful. Not always open though.

Adequate displays. I'm glad they have one. I especially liked the information on the various cottages in town and would have like more of that and more on the old island families.

It is a place to read, see and learn about Cedar Key's past... the many artifacts, literature articles and display models that brought the history of CK alive was a pleasant experience. You can go through this museum a number of times and still see or read something that you missed the time before....take your time and absorb ( after all, what is your hurry ??, you are on Cedar Key ).

The menial price of $2.00 is a bargain !! Go to the museums in D.C./ New York City and to other large museums paying their prices of admissions, and then appreciate what the LOCAL people of CK are proud of showing to us.. the tourist, their hard working past and present here in this museum.

The folks at the front desk make it so nice for you to be there.....soo, enjoy !!
