We had lunch here. It was ok...nothing to write home about. The service was ok, but the food
was slow in coming, especially since there were only a hand full of people eating.

The food wasn't worth waiting for. There just has to be something better around the area.

The place smells like beer, and needs to be updated a bit.

The view is wonderful!!!

Not exactly sure what you were not happy about since you didn't leave much info? I'm sorry that you felt your food took too long but we do cook everything to order so sometimes food does take an extra few minutes. I'm not sure why you said it smells like beer other then the fact that we carry 18 draft beers and sell a lot of them. Perhaps next time if you are unhappy with your meal you could inform a manager so we can resolve the problem rather then leaving vague reviews on the Internet.

On a day's outing, stopped here for lunch, the views, and to relax. It was worth the 11/2 hour drive. The clam bowl was great, the oysters great (well maybe except for the little sucker fish swimming in one oyster shell, but the waitress did pleasantly replace it!), but the soft shelled crab on ciabatta roll was not only generous (2 big crabs) but not overbreaded, with great remoulade sauce. Our waitress was charming and attentive. The best part was the locally brewed beer taster.... the Midnight Oil was awesome! We'll do it again, followed by a snooze on the beach.

What a disappointment. The location is amazing - overlooking the water. The decor is very beachy and the aesthetics are welcoming and fun. Unfortunately, that is the only good thing that Steamers has going for it. The wait staff was aloof and seemed as though they didn't want to be there (my dad suspected they had a 'long day' but we were one of four tables in the rather large seating area so they may have just been bored). We ordered three mixed drinks and a beer - two of the mixed drinks were terrible - they either used a boxed juice or the liquor that was specified was substituted for something else. The only decent drink was the beer (because you can't really mess that up). What really ruined things for us, however, were the appetizers we ordered. The fried calamari - for $7.99 - was overcooked to the point that the insides were more of a cheese-like consistency and for the price you pay, it was a very meager serving. The peel and eat shrimp were bland and overcooked and seemed as though they had been sitting in a refrigerator for days waiting to be ordered. We intended to order additional drinks and eat dinner but after that introduction, we left. It is really a shame because it is in a great location - however, from the waitstaff, to the cook, to obviously the owners, at some point someone stopped caring about the quality of the place. Bad all around - however, if its beer you want, it is a very cute location.

Based off other reviews you have posted you visited cedar key during our arts festival. Of course this is one of our busiest weekends of the year so I apologize if the service was not what it should have been but we have hundreds of people coming through our doors in a very short period of time and all of them want attention as quickly as possible. I am sorry that the food was not up to your standards but if you would have brought this to a managers attention we would have gladly fixed the problem for you. As for the drinks, we use only the liquor that is requested by the customer, never a substitution and we do not uses pre-mixes, only fresh juice. Once again I am sorry that you didn't have a great experience at our restaurant, and based on other reviews a good experience in cedar key. Please speak with a manager next time so we can resolve these issues without the Internet.

Waited an hour for our lunch, drinks took forever to be delivered too. At the hour mark, we were ready to leave. Server begged us to stay and said food would be ready in 5-15 minutes. She said they were extremely short handed and that they had forgotten it was Spring Break week. Once food finally arrived - it was awful. Clams were overcooked - chewy and extremely sandy. Crab cake sandwich was overlooked and dry. Burger was a hockey puck...overlooked & dry. The chowder was delicious, unfortunately the only edible item we received. The view was very nice - from where we sat, we could see the dolphin rolling in the water. A shame the food and service was so poor.
