“Good place for the kids to expend energy”
Reviewed March 4, 2012

They have a pirate ship play center for the kids. There is a pirate ship play center for the kids. It has three slides and several ladders for the kids to play on. There are also swings and another wooden play center for the kids. On the weekends you can climp the lighthouse and there is also a small gift shop/museum.

“A charming place to visit for children and adults”
Reviewed September 2, 2011

The Crooked River Lighthouse on Florida's "Forgotten Coast" near Carrabelle, Florida is a charming place to visit for a view into Florida's past. A small museum and gift shop are open during the afternoon from Thursday through Sunday. The museum includes a brief video about the history of lighthouse. The lighthouse itself has been restored and visitors can climb 138-steps for a panoramic view from the top on Saturday and Sunday afternoons for $5/person. The steps are steep and the climb wouldn't be suitable for young children. However, in addition to the lighthouse, Crooked River also has the "Carrabella"--a spectacular, seventy-foot long, wooden "pirate ship" play area which is irresistable to "pirates" of all ages! There are no fees to visit the museum or to play on the Carrabella. Check the Web site (http://www.crookedriverlighthouse.org/index.cfm) for additional information and to confirm hours.
