We recently spent three nights at the Winchester Cottage just down the street from the Old Carrabelle Hotel. The cottage is rented through the B&B. We had two couples and it was such a great place to stay. The cottage is nicely renovated - with new appliances and gorgeous refinished pine floors. I would say it's best for two couples, as the only bathroom is a jack & jill between two of the bedrooms. There is a third bedroom in the back but bathroom access could be tricky if it wasn't your children staying back there. The cottage has many great tables on the porch, dining room and back deck to play games and dine together. It comes with a movie library and access to netflix movies and cable tv. Plenty of magazines tucked all around the cottage so you'll never be bored sipping coffee on the porch. The price was excellent and we were really happy all around with our stay here. Skip was great to deal with on the phone and we never actually saw or met him or his wife. They left the light on and instructions on the porch for us. Carrabelle has a great coffee shop, Carrabelle Junction that has food and treats as well. Also Fisherman's Wife had good food. For something fancier, Apalachacola was just down the street and had many delightful restaurants, bars, shops, etc...

The cottage is a great value and I recommend it highly to small groups that want to share some time together. Thanks Skip and Kathy for making it available to all!

My wife and I stayed here for our birthdays. We had a great stay. Easy going hotel with a great old Florida feel. Tons of seafood in the area and Apalachicola is a beautiful 15 min drive up 98. Beaches and forests to walk. Lots of great history in the area. The owners Skip and Kathy are great. They are there when you need them, but give you run of the commons areas. Breakfast at 2 Al's is awesome. Something for everyone! Stay here once and you will be back over and over again.

Our stay at Old Carabelle Hotel was everything we had hoped for. The room was delightful and
the accommodations were homey, tasteful, and very clean. The location was great, allowing for
excursions to site on the "Forgotten Coast" with minimal driving. The breakfasts that are
offered. if you choose, are at a local restaurant and were excellent as well. The entire package is a great deal.

We rented the bungalow a few blocks away that is associated with The Old Carrabelle Hotel and were very pleased with our accommodations! II was a surprisingly large home, with three bedrooms, a bath, living room, kitchen, dining room, and front porch, and was very well appointed with every amenity. We were a few blocks from the marina, and I found it an enjoyable neighborhood for walking. I also thought that the Carrabelle Beach was attractive and a good place to walk, and there is a historic museum which I visited and a lighthouse with museum. You can climb the lighthouse on Sat. and Sun. 1-4 p.m. We found good restaurants nearby, including The Fisherman's Wife. Our Finnish friends staying with us just said as I was writing this, "what this place does not have, you do not need", as the house is so well equipped. We spent a delightful 3 day weekend in a charming home in a charming small town!

Your Finnish friends' comment about how the cottage is furnished, is something we discuss on a fairly regular basis.

It's not so much the value of the contents, it's that in our effort to make it as homey and comfortably homelike as possible we've used many family photos, trip souvenirs, good books, etc that may be hard or impossible to replace.

So it's a good commentary on all our guests through the years, that we haven't noticed anything missing! And thank you for mentioning and appreciating!

My husband, 11 month old daughter and I visited the old Carrabelle hotel in November 2012. The hosts were very friendly and very helpful. They give us their biggest room so we had enough space for our little girl. The drive from Mobile to Carrabelle is beautiful!
The hotel offers the possibility to add a breakfast voucher for a good price for a nice local place called 2 Al's not too far away. It was quite the experience for us Dutchies who are used to some fruit and bread with cheese in the morning ;) just to be clear that is NOT on the menu ;) Let's just say you can skip lunch after a breakfast there.
