My wife and I have stayed with Skip twice now and have had a great experience both times. Quiet and away from the madness but close enough to it if you want any of it. The place a has a real grasp on old Florida and we both really appreciate that style. The rooms were very clean and comfortable with plenty of privacy. If you adventurous I recommend a day trip out to Dog Island or you can stay the night at The Pelican Inn. Beware that if you don't take it you will not have it when you get there. Thanks for the good times Skip!

And thanks to you both for appreciating what we have here, both at the Hotel and on our Forgotten Coast. It really still is Old Florida.

Just came back from two nights at The Old Carrabelle Hotel in Carabelle, FL. My husband found the place on the web and made reservations to celebrate my birthday. While we are familiar with the area, it was our first time in a bed and breakfast. I loved the uncomplicated check-in process and the quietness and privacy of the property. Our "Magnolia" room was clean, comfortable and with a nice homey feeling. Skip was very helpful when we did need him (their policy is to give the guest their space: although they are on-site, you couldn't even tell), he went above and beyond to offer the best experience, and also gave great advice regarding the area as far as things to do and places to eat. We went to Apalachicola for dinner on our first night, next day we explored the Carrabelle harbor and visited St. George Island, finishing the day with dinner on the beach at The Blue Parrot. The hotel fits the area perfectly as it offers a break from cookie-cutter lodging and dining options.
A big thank you to Skip!

Poor Kathy! Her tasks are more refined than Handyman, Yardman and Housekeeper, so she doesn't meet as many guests as I do.

She gets very little recognition, although she was the major force in remodeling decisions and keeps us financially afloat. Maybe Someone will mention her--!!

My wife & I spent 3 days to celebrate our 37th anniversary. Stayed in the Captain's Quarters the 1st two night, Hemingway's the 3rd night. Very nice accommodations at a reasonable price. Reservations went very smoothly and they gave us excellent advice on area restaurants. Visited Appalachicola, Port St. Joe, Eastpoint, St. George Island and Cape Sand Blas in addition to Carrabelle over the 3 days. Highly recommend Papa Joe's & The Tap Room in Appalachicola, Capt. Snook's in Eastpoint & The 2 Al's and The Fisherman's Wife in Carrabelle. But for value and a truly unique, laid back atmosphere, spend your nights at The Old Carrabelle Hotel. It's the best place in the area to stay, hands down.

We want to fill our rooms, that's the business, but we get a particularly Large Charge when our guests really "get into" what this area has to offer. There's not much left like our Old Florida coast anywhere, and of course The Old Carrabelle Hotel is the place to stay!

On a whim we decided to stay here. I called and Skip made our reservations a breeze. Informed him we would be late nite arrivals, which was no problem at all. Everything went just like he informed me it would!! Our "Hemmingway" room was wonderful!! With our own private bathroom! Awoke both mornings rested, recharged, and the wonderful smell of coffee brewing in the hall for us!! If calm, quiet, comfortable, great food within a short ride, and the great sound of....SILENCE is what you want? This is the place!! We'll be coming back for sure!!!

We just returned from Carrabelle and another very relaxing visit to the Forgotten Coast. That visit, as usual, was highlighted by three great nights at The Old Carrabelle Hotel. Love the low-key check in process and lack of hassle. As always, clean and comfortable accomodations. Excellent value in a B & B and great breakfasts at The 2 Als Cafe included. Will be back soon.
